Little bit of Information about me…. My names Kim, mainly known as Kimie to the children. We live in Mansfield area Ng183BQ with Ashley and our pet dog Tilly.

I started my new venture as a childminder in 2016 after having my son Jamie. Prior to this I worked in a senior role in an outstanding nursery in Mansfield, which gave me the experience I have today. I’m a Mummy to three children Ryan 14 ( my step son) Jamie 6 and Hollie 4. My working hours are 8 am - 5pm.

🧙‍♀️ 🧹 Room on the broom trail 🧹 🧙‍♀️

This morning the children have completed the Room on the broom trail at Sherwood pines! The trail itself was one mile long and each and every one of them walked the whole way. I am so proud of them ⭐️

Before we set off we had snack together and read the story book ‘Room on the broom’ we talked about the characters we might spot along the way and what objects we may have to look out for. Whilst reading the story the children enjoyed joining in with ‘whoosh they was gone’

We took our time walking in the woods, following the signs. One of the children was so good at pointing out the direction we needed to go in using the arrows on the signs.

It was a really interactive morning, we had to complete activity boards, and follow instructions, the children did some very good bird flying impressions. They really enjoyed finding the missing objects. We had some playtime in the leaves and one of the children asked an interesting question. ‘ is it Autumn time Kimie?’ So I took the opportunity to have a look for some Autumn clues in the forest with them too. 🍁

Some key words from this mornings trial are ‘bow, wand, frog, dog, witch, dragon, broomstick, bird & cat’

We also spotted a few familiar characters from the Gruffalo along the way too. Finishing the morning with a picnic before heading home for naps! 🍁🧙‍♀️🍂🧹

🍂Monday morning walkies🍂

Monday morning adventures consisted of a Bluey walk, and a play at the park. I love seeing how confident my little ones are becoming around Bluey now too, and obviously Bluey loves treat time and all the positive interactions she’s having with the children 🐶 🐾

We stopped to look for conkers too. We didn’t really find many as someone beat us to it. If anyone spots any whilst you’re out on walks please feel free to donate some my way as we always love to play and explore with them in my Autumn set ups. They make very good loose part play! 🤎

🍏A little visit to mama’s🍏

Today we did something a little different. I took the children to Brinsley park and then to visit my Mama. They were so well behaved and just so sweet. When we went in to say hello the children went straight over and a gave her a cuddle and said ‘ Hello Mama’ ☺️

They were inquisitive to have a nosy around so I took them on a little tour, we found a Santa toy and a Christmas tree along the way and lots of other random objects too! We was pulling silly faces in the mirror and took a little selfie too 😂

After we went outside into what I call ‘my secret garden’ lots of childhood memories for me in Mama’s garden. We spent some time picking apples from the apple tree, collected some natural objects to do a sticky picture and then finished our morning with lots of sleeping bunnies’ and various other animals before having a little picnic and heading back to Kimie’s.

It really made mama’s day seeing some little people and having some little cuddles! 😍❤️

🧩 Learning through play 🧩

We’ve enjoyed a couple of visits to the sensory room this month.

The children have enjoyed mark making on the chalk board and lots of baby role play too, the puzzles have been a big hit too!

Together we’ve been exploring new words using the flash cards and doing lots of colour sorting and counting using the fruit & vegetables sorting station.

We allways finish our sensory room session by tidying up together before doing some singing before we leave. This works really well and I always encourage all children to help by giving them a small responsibility of something to put away.

This week we had a full house of all children taking off their own shoes too! We’ve been working really hard practising being a little more independent. Well done everyone 👏

It’s been so nice going back to weekly visits to the Farm after the summer holidays. Our last few vist’s the children have been interested in watching the new addition to the Farm.

Meet ‘Alf’ the Lowland Tapir. Whilst the children have enjoyed watching him have a wonder around and eat his breakfast they was very amused when he almost showered us in ‘wee’ so do please be careful when you visit 🤦‍♀️😂

The Bird’s of prey have all been awake and alert on our last few visits too so we’ve enjoyed having a walk around and seeing the different birds.

We really do enjoy our farm days 💚

🐶 Berry Hill Park 🐶

This morning’s adventures consisted of taking Bluey for a walk in the wood’s, we stopped at the park for a play too and then went to see the ducks before heading home, to play at Kimie’s. Whilst we was out their was a helicopter flying around which the children was really interested in watching and gave us lots to talk about as we walked back to the car!

The children are getting good at understanding how to be safe and calm around Bluey and Bluey’s is really adapting to walkies with us all safely. She loves to watch the children when they’re playing but her favourite is treat time with the children 🦴 🤎, they all really can’t wait for their turn to give her one!

☀️ Play time at home ☀️

We’ve been enjoying all things ‘summer’ at home over the last month.

I’ve been spending time encouraging the children with engaging in activities for small periods of time. A lot of these activities are really encouraging for the hand- eye coordination, as well as giving opportunities to practise waiting for their turn.

A particular favourite has definitely been the hoop game and beach balls, they have been enjoying doing singing and bubbles too 🫧 💙

Over the holidays we’ve spent time in the garden making the most of the weather. The children have been using the climbing frame, they were encouraged to use one person at a time to keep each other safe.

It’s been a lovely month of play, laughter and sunshine ☀️

🏖️ Oh I do like to be beside the seaside ☀️

This has definitely been our favourite theme so far this year. There was so many interactive resources for the children to play with.

🏖️ Fishing with the net’s.. my little one was very amused watching the other’s fish around her 💛

🐙 playing with the mini arcade machine

🌊 the very very large inflatable ball and boat was a big hit - the children enjoyed rolling on their tummy’s on it, we had to practice waiting for our turn!

🏝️ Kimie singing ‘ oh I do like to be beside the seaside’ - everyone was rather amused with the new song.

🐟 We can’t forget those pesky seagull’s they was flying off with hat’s and eating fish! There was also so many of them we had to count them all!

🐍 White Post Farm 🐐

Visiting one of our favourite places when it’s the holidays is always a very different kind of day avoiding the busy crowds, and the children not being able to have the freedom they would usually be able to have but we still had such a lovely day together.

We started off playing in the tiny town, added bonus that we had it to ourselves too ❤️

For the first time in a while we visited the Rodent room, not going to lie it gave me the creeps when I saw the size of the rat and the tarantula however the children really enjoyed having to look closely to spot the creatures that was hiding away in there. We moved onto the reptile house afterwards and watched the fishes, spending some time talking about colours and counting them together. Our favourite snake was all curled up having a snooze.

We went for a picnic and then for a walk up the field where the children always love to have a good run into the open space towards the sheep and goat’s. Today we took some food to feed them and I just love the confidence some of the children have with the animals. We came across a super big goat which we’ve never spotted before he even posed for a photo for us 😂

Finished the day having a little play and for some a nap on the park before heading to see the wallaby’s before heading home.
