Having looked at all of the advice given and following the guidelines, I personally think the right thing to do is for everyone to stay at home, my role is to safeguard our children, I would not like to be responsible for spreading this virus. I hope you understand as this has been completely taken out of my hands, I just wish us all safe at the end of this đź’–

**THIS GUIDANCE MAY CHANGE**
The government has announced the PARTIAL closure of early years settings INCLUDING childminders. Our CURRENT understanding is that this means we will be able to continue to care for the children of, for example, key workers such as social services, mental health workers, prison workers, border patrol, front line local govt employees, education workers, medical professionals, delivery drivers, the forces and police etc and vulnerable children (under social services or with an EHC Plan). We are waiting for further clarification about which children this includes from the government but the definition seems broad.
PLEASE NOTE: THIS GUIDANCE MAY CHANGE - WE ARE STILL WAITING FOR FURTHER CLARIFICATION. THANK YOU.

Dear parents with school aged children
You might be inclined to create a minute by minute schedule for your kids. You have high hopes of hours of learning, including online activities, science experiments, and book reports. You’ll limit technology until everything is done! But here’s the thing...
Our kids are just as scared as we are right now. Our kids not only can hear everything that is going on around them, but they feel our constant tension and anxiety. They have never experienced anything like this before. Although the idea of being off of school for 4 weeks sounds awesome, they are probably picturing a fun time like summer break, not the reality of being trapped at home and not seeing their friends.
Over the coming weeks, you will see an increase in behavior issues with your kids. Whether it’s anxiety, or anger, or protest that they can’t do things normally - it will happen. You’ll see more meltdowns, tantrums, and oppositional behavior in the coming weeks. This is normal and expected under these circumstances.
What kids need right now is to feel comforted and loved. To feel like it’s all going to be ok. And that might mean that you tear up your perfect schedule and love on your kids a bit more. Play outside and go on walks. Bake cookies and paint pictures. Play board games and watch movies. Do a science experiment together or find virtual field trips of the zoo. Start a book and read together as a family. Snuggle under warm blankets and do nothing.
Don’t worry about them regressing in school. Every single kid is in this boat and they all will be ok. When we are back in the classroom, we will all course correct and meet them where they are. Teachers are experts at this! Don’t pick fights with your kids because they don’t want to do math. Don’t scream at your kids for not following the schedule. Don’t mandate 2 hours of learning time if they are resisting it.
If I can leave you with one thing, it’s this: at the end of all of this, your kids’ mental health will be more important than their academic skills. And how they felt during this time will stay with them long after the memory of what they did during those 4 weeks is long gone. So keep that in mind, every single day.
Stay safe. X

There is a lot about 'childs mental health ' circling the media at the moment and how we can teach our children to be kind . With more sad news today in the media regarding mental health it is our responsibility to teach kindness and empathy from a young age...
Emotional intelligence doesn’t come naturally to all children.
Some children miss the subtle signs that they are upsetting those around them. Some children have a hard time putting themselves in other people’s shoes. Some children have a hard time knowing how to be kind.
So how can we build empathy and kindness in your children, and how can you do this at home?
❤️ Model Kind behaviour: Children do as they see –Be a wonderful role model for your child.
Show your child respect when redirecting them. Speak with kindness. Your children will learn from your example.
❤️ Highlight people's emotions around you:
Find someone showing an extreme emotion – such as excitement, sadness or anger. Ask your child, “What do you think they’re feeling?” Ask them to make up a story about what may be happening.
This helps children identify non-verbal clues as to how others feel and helps them put meaning behind emotions.
❤️ Point out how their behaviour affects those around them:
When your child’s behavior is affecting those around them – point it out. Let your child know how they are affecting others without shaming them.
❤️ Teach your child the joys of helping others :
Be an example for your children and help strangers, friends and family. Let them know that it feels good to help others – even if you get nothing back. Set up opportunities for you to help others as a family.
Teach your child that even small acts of kindness go along way. Express to your child why you are holding the door for another person, letting someone get in front of you in traffic or helping someone when their hands are full. Explain that it is nice to be helpful, even if the person doesn’t say thank you or appreciate it.
❤️You should give to give – not give to get.❤️

Children need to hear words again and again in lots of different situations to understand them - make talking part of your everyday routine
