This months Scale Of The Month is Lydian Dominant. It’s is the fourth mode of the Melodic Minor scale and is built with the intervals 1 2 3 ♯4 5 6 ♭7. It’s a really cool scale that is used by a lot of modern jazz players. The ♯4 adds a certain eeriness over regular dominant chords, but obviously loves being paired with a 7♯11! I’ve used it here over a good old C7. 🖤🎶

Really looking forward to seeing people in real life again this week, and meeting new people that started during lockdown with video lessons, and people that booked in this weekend!

(This pic is from a while ago, I haven’t been hitting the beer gardens today, unfortunately!) 🍻🎶

Throwback to April 3rd 2020, 2 weeks into Lockdown 1.0, fresh-faced and full of optimism!

I love using an electric to play fingerstyle stuff. It doesn't work with everything, but if you need that mellow tone then it really does the trick.
Oh, and you can lob a load of reverb on it!

In case you don't recognise this, it's Lean On Me, by Bill Withers. 🖤🎶
