Last week, the children in F2 enjoyed using the lovely story ‘The Paper Dolls’ to support their learning and explore the people who are special to them.
👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 The children talked about the people in their family unit and used photographs and images to help them recall special memories and experiences. They enjoyed creating their own playdough families and getting creative as they decorated paper dolls. 🎨
🌊🔨 Outdoors, the children also enjoyed developing their problem-solving skills through a range of activities in the water and construction areas. They worked together, explored different ideas and found solutions as they played and learned.

Last week in F2, we used the lovely story ‘The Everywhere Bear’ to explore and develop our understanding of new vocabulary. 📚
The children followed step-by-step instructions to draw their own bears, which they independently added to their invitations for our exciting Teddy Bears’ Picnic happening this Friday! 🧸🧺
They also enjoyed taking part in a variety of fun and engaging activities linked to the story, developing their mathematical, finger gym, drawing and collaborative skills along the way.
We can’t wait for our teddy bears to join us for a special picnic! 💕🐻

🌟 What a fantastic start to F2! 🌟
Our new F2 children have had a wonderful first two weeks as they settle into full-time school. 🥰 They have been busy exploring our indoor and outdoor areas, making new friends and getting involved in lots of exciting activities - we are so proud of how brilliantly they have settled in! 💛✨

🌟 We did it - OPAL Platinum! 🌟

After two years of hard work, we are incredibly proud to have achieved the OPAL Platinum Award!

But what is OPAL? OPAL (Outdoor Play and Learning) is an approach that transforms playtimes, giving children the freedom, space and opportunities to play, explore, imagine, create and take appropriate risks.

Our OPAL journey has completely transformed playtimes at FHAL. Our children have greater ownership of their play and the freedom to make their own choices, follow their interests and create their own adventures.

Every day, our playground is full of happy, busy and engaged children - trying new things, developing their independence, building friendships and, most importantly, having fun!

Platinum is the highest level of OPAL accreditation, so this is a huge achievement for our whole school community.

A huge thank you to our wonderful children, staff and families who have supported us, embraced the changes and helped make our OPAL journey such a success. We couldn’t have done it without you! 💚🏆🎉

🏃‍♂️🥇 Last week, our F2 children had a fantastic time taking part in Sports Day!
The children showed great enthusiasm, and determination as they took part in a variety of races and activities. Everyone tried their best, cheered each other on and, most importantly, had lots of fun!
Every child received a medal to celebrate their participation and amazing effort. 🥇
A huge thank you to all of the parents, carers and family members who came along to support and cheer the children on! 🙂

🌍♻️ Last week, our F2 children continued exploring their enquiry question: "Am I too small to make a difference?"
The children learnt about litter and the impact it can have on our oceans and marine life. They discovered that even small actions can make a big difference in protecting our environment.
Using recycled materials, they created artwork and designed posters to encourage others to keep our beaches clean, put litter in the bin and recycle. ♻️ They also enjoyed a range of activities linked to this theme. 💙🌎

Last week, our F2 children completed their learning about Italy, and what better way to celebrate than with a fashion show inspired by the famous catwalks of Milan!
The children were challenged to design their own T-shirts, and we were delighted to welcome adults into school to help transfer their creative designs onto fabric. Once their masterpieces were complete, the children took to the runway to proudly showcase their creations in a fantastic fashion show.
The fun didn't stop there! The children also enjoyed a range of Italy-themed activities, including building the Leaning Tower of Pisa and constructing a bridge over a Venetian canal. It was a wonderful way to bring their learning to life and celebrate all they had discovered about Italy. 🇮🇹✨

What a fantastic week of learning in F2! Using the non-fiction text ‘Theodore’s Italian Adventure’, the children explored Italy’s culture, food, landmarks and everyday life. They practised sequencing instructions before making and tasting their own pizzas 🍕 Their maths and finger gym activities were also inspired by Italy, making learning fun and engaging across the curriculum! 🇮🇹 🍕

Last week, our F2s had a busy but enjoyable first week back after their half-term holidays. They used the text ‘From my Window’ to help them explore Brazil and look at some of the similarities and differences between Brazil and Ladybrook. They followed (and wrote) instructions for how to make Mingau, tasted Mate, and made a Peteca to play with. They also enjoyed activities in their play that related to the text 🇧🇷 🪟 🥣
