👨‍🎓 Congratulations to NTU Mansfield Alumnus, Harry Atkinson, who received the Nottingham Trent University Award for Outstanding Alumni 👏🏻

Alongside his career as an Engineer in the Energy sector, Harry became the youngest Mayor or Erewash, and continues to support opportunities for young people, local businesses and his community.

His message to graduates, alumni and future students was simple: ‘stay open to opportunities, keep learning, and never underestimate what getting involved can do’ 🙌

Whether that’s volunteering, joining a community group, become a trustee, a governor, or even stand for election. Small actions can make a big difference ⭐️

At 18, Harry never thought university would be part of his future. After beginning his career as an apprentice Engineer, he later returned to education at NTU Mansfield. He said, ‘…there is no singular correct route, what matters is that you want to, and continue to learn. It’s never too late’ 💛

Hedgehog Friendly Campus - Gold Award at NTU Mansfield!

We’re incredibly proud to share that NTU Mansfield has achieved the Hedgehog Friendly Campus Gold Award - a fantastic milestone in our commitment to biodiversity and sustainability.

This achievement has been a true team effort, led by a dedicated steering group bringing together colleagues from timetabling, the library, and operations - demonstrating the power of collaboration across our community.

Here are just some of the highlights from our journey to Gold:
✨ Created a bug hotel as part of our pond area revamp, enhancing habitats for local wildlife
✨ Raised over £1,500 since the beginning of our work through local events in support of the British Hedgehog Preservation Society
✨ Hosted a knowledge-sharing session with other institutions in the scheme
✨ Conducted two hedgehog surveys to better understand and protect our local population
✨ Delivered a community event alongside Vision West Notts at our Spring Wellbeing Event
✨ Produced an informational campaign video to raise awareness and engagement

This recognition reflects the passion and dedication of everyone involved in making our hub a safer, more welcoming place for hedgehogs and other wildlife.

We’re proud to have reached Gold - and we’re already looking ahead to the next challenge: Platinum 🤞

We’re all set and ready to welcome you at our NTU Mansfield Open event 👋

We loved welcoming Level 2 Health & Social Care students from West Notts College to the NTU Mansfield Hub today 💙

Students visited the Hub to explore routes into Nursing, taking part in an interactive session in our mock hospital. They practised taking observations from simulated patients, recording blood pressure, pulse and breathing rates, then monitoring changes using observation charts – just like they would in a real clinical setting.
