Sharon Bond - Piano and Flute teacher
I am a fully qualified and very experienced teacher of one-to-one piano and flute lessons to all ages and abilities. (6+) Why learn to play a musical instrument?
The benefits are many! The fun and joy of making music, even as a complete beginner, are the obvious two. There are many other benefits; It helps increase cognitive and motor skills, it develops spacial awareness, and it can help concentration. Performing, whether playing for friends, taking graded exams, or participating in music festivals, increases confidence in social and career situations. Regular practising improves self discipline, patience, memory, and time management skills.

What are graded music exams? - There are several exam boards offering music exams in playing, and written music theory. My exam board of choice is The Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music. (Other exam boards are availableπ) The ABRSM offers a graded structure of exams ranging from Initial for players in their first year or so of playing, through grades 1 - 8, followed by three levels of diploma. The higher the grade the more demanding the exam requirements.
