HYROX ISN’T BUILDING YOUR PHYSIQUE
Hyrox has absolutely taken the fitness world by storm.
I’ve done a fair few events myself and, by all means, if you enjoy it and want a challenge, crack on. We’ve got plenty of Performance360 members that do exactly that and plenty that don’t.
But here’s my take
The physiques you see on athletes weren’t built by doing Hyrox.
They were built through years of strength training, quality nutrition, recovery, and consistently nailing the fundamentals.
What frustrates me is that, just like every trend in fitness, suddenly every gym in town is running Hyrox classes, becoming a Hyrox affiliate, and convincing people that this is the answer.
It’s not.
Before Hyrox it was something else. In a few years it’ll be something else again.
Fitness loves a trend.
The fundamentals never change.
If your goal is to look better, build muscle, get stronger, and create a physique you’re proud of, your priority should still be resistance training, good nutrition, sleep, and consistency.
Then, if you fancy testing yourself, sign up for a Hyrox.
Use it as a challenge.
Use it as motivation.
Use it as a way of measuring your fitness.
But don’t confuse the test with the training.
And remember, not everyone needs a race bib, a medal, or a fitness event to justify their training.
Some people simply want to be fitter, stronger, healthier, more confident, and feel good in their own skin.
That’s awesome too.
😎 Just my view

YOUR FITNESS YEAR ISN’T SUPPOSED TO BE A STRAIGHT LINE.
One of the biggest mistakes I see people make is thinking they should be dieting all year round.
Always trying to lose weight.
Always trying to get leaner.
Always feeling like they should be making progress.
The reality is that’s not how the body works.
You can’t stay in a calorie deficit forever.
At some point your body needs more food, more recovery and a chance to simply maintain what you’ve built.
But the opposite is true as well.
You can’t spend all year eating in a surplus, chasing muscle and performance.
There has to be balance.
There are periods where you push.
Periods where you build.
Periods where you maintain.
And periods where life simply takes priority.
For many people, summer is exactly that.
Holidays.BBQs.Beer gardens.Days out.Time with family and friends.
And that’s okay.
Not every season of your life has to be about aggressively chasing fat loss.
Sometimes the biggest win is maintaining your shape, keeping your habits in place and enjoying your life.
The people who stay in great shape year after year aren’t the people who are always dieting.
They’re the people who know when to push and when to maintain.
So here’s my question
Are you trying to lose weight because it’s the right time to do it?
Or because you think you should be?

CLIENT SHOUTOUT OF THE MONTH
Meet .wilson0000 . AKA The Mountain Goat.
John has been an absolute privilege to coach this year.
When he first joined us, fitness wasn’t the issue. Anyone who knows John knows he’s always out in the Peaks, hiking mountains, clocking up miles and doing things most people wouldn’t even attempt.
What John felt he was missing was strength.
He wanted to build muscle.
He wanted to improve his overall performance.
And if we’re being honest, he wanted to look as good as he felt.
At 55 years old, he’s absolutely smashed it.
His strength has gone through the roof, he’s added quality muscle, improved his body composition, and continues to perform at a seriously high level both inside and outside the gym.
What’s even more impressive is the amount of food this man eats. Most people would be terrified of the calories, but John’s trusted the process, fuelled his training properly, and reaped the rewards.
More importantly, he’s become a huge part of the Performance360 community. Always positive, always encouraging others, and always willing to put the work in.
Proof that age is just a number.
55 years old.
Stronger.
Leaner.
More muscular.
Performing better than ever.
Massive credit to you, John.
The mountain goat keeps climbing. 🐐💪

YOUR MONDAY MOTIVATOR.
For the purpose of this post, I’ve added roughly 30lbs of fat to my frame using AI to show you the difference.
The scary thing is that for a lot of people, the photo on the left isn’t that far away.
Not because they’re lazy.
But because they’ve slowly lowered their standards.
Workouts become less frequent, takeaways become more regular, and excuses start to pile up.
“Healthy food is too expensive.”
“I haven’t got time.”
“I’ll start later.”
Then before you know it, years have passed and nothing has changed.
Fitness gives you far more than a smaller waistline.
It builds confidence, resilience, energy, and freedom.
It allows you to enjoy food, social occasions, and life while still staying in shape.
And like I always tell people
Once you’re in shape, it’s far easier to stay in shape than it is to get back into shape.
I’m 44 next year and in some of the best shape I’ve been in for a very long time.
Not because I spend every waking hour in the gym.
I love food.
I love holidays.
I love being social.
Trust me, I’m usually the first one at the bar.
The difference is I choose to do those things, rather than being forced into a lifestyle because my health won’t allow me any other option.
This isn’t about showing off.
This isn’t about being arrogant.
But those that get it, get it.
And almost every person who has transformed their health says the same thing
“I wish I’d started years ago.”
Maybe this Monday is the day you stop making excuses and start raising your standards.

PEPTIDES. THE LATEST FITNESS OBSESSION.
If you’ve spent more than five minutes on social media lately, you’ve probably seen someone talking about peptides.
Apparently they’re the answer to everything.
Fat loss.
Recovery.
Muscle gain.
Sleep.
Anti ageing.
Performance.
So what actually are they?
In simple terms, peptides are short chains of amino acids (the building blocks of protein) that act as messengers within the body. Different peptides can signal different responses, such as helping with recovery, appetite regulation, growth hormone release, tissue repair and more.
Sounds great, right?
Maybe.
But here’s the part nobody wants to hear
Peptides won’t fix poor habits.
They won’t outwork a bad diet.
They won’t replace progressive training.
They won’t make up for five hours of sleep, too much alcohol, and 3,000 steps a day.
The fitness industry loves finding shortcuts because shortcuts sell.
The boring truth?
The people getting the best results from peptides are usually already doing the fundamentals exceptionally well.
They’re training consistently.
They’re eating enough protein.
They’re managing their calories.
They’re sleeping properly.
They’re staying active.
The peptide isn’t creating the result.
It’s potentially enhancing what they’re already doing.
The same applies to supplements, fat burners, recovery gadgets, injections, and every “game changing” product that appears every few months.
Get the basics right first.
Because if your foundations are weak, adding another supplement is like putting a turbocharger on a car with no engine.
Master the fundamentals.
Earn the right to worry about the extras.
Most people don’t need another supplement.
They need more consistency.

There are only three reasons you’re not where you want to be right now
1. You’ve stopped caring.
2. You’ve stopped taking action.
3. You’ve become too comfortable.
Most people don’t need another motivational quote.
They need an honest conversation with themselves.
The truth is, the results you want are usually hidden behind the things you’re avoiding.
The uncomfortable conversation.
The early alarm.
The workout you keep putting off.
The habits you know need changing.
Nothing changes until you accept where you are.
Not where you wish you were.
Not where you used to be.
Where you are right now.
Because acceptance isn’t giving up.
It’s taking ownership.
And once you take ownership, the work can begin.
Less excuses.
More action.
More consistency.
The life, body, business, relationship, or future you want is built by the standards you choose to live by every day.
Let’s stop waiting for the perfect time and start doing the work. 💪🏻

JUNE IS MEN’S MENTAL HEALTH MONTH.
But if we’re honest
Most men still won’t talk about it.
Every year, around 525,000 men experience serious mental health struggles.
That’s over 10,000 men every week.
Over 1,400 men every single day.
Men are also around 4 times more likely to die by su***de than women.
Yet we’re still told to
“Man up.”
“Get on with it.”
“Don’t show weakness.”
The reality?
The strongest thing a man can do is speak up.
At Performance360, we talk a lot about physical health, but mental health matters just as much.
Being around good people.
Having purpose.
Moving your body.
Feeling part of something.
Having someone ask, “How are you really doing?”
Those things matter.
So from one bloke to another
I appreciate you.
And I genuinely hope you’re doing okay 👊
And here’s my offer.
If you’re a man who’s struggling, feeling isolated, going through a tough time, or simply needs to be around a good group of lads
I’m offering free training sessions throughout June.
No sales pitch.
No pressure.
No catch.
Just an opportunity to get into a positive environment, move your body, have a laugh, and be around great men.
Drop me a message privately and let’s have a chat.
You don’t have to carry everything on your own.

The more I see people wearing Whoop bands etc, the more I think they’re creating a problem that didn’t exist in the first place.
Before anyone gets upset, this isn’t a dig at the technology.
It’s a dig at our growing inability to think for ourselves.
Stephen Bartlett recently said that a couple of glasses of wine can ruin the next three days of his life.
Maybe it does.
Or maybe he’s looked at a recovery score, seen a red number, and convinced himself it’s true.
And that’s the issue.
We’ve become so obsessed with tracking every heartbeat, every hour of sleep, every calorie, every stress response and every drink that we’ve lost something incredibly important
Autonomy.
Autonomy is your ability to make decisions and think independently without relying on someone or something else to tell you how you feel.
Twenty years ago people woke up and asked
“How do I feel today?”
Now they ask
“What does my Whoop say?”
You wake up feeling great.
You slept well.
You’re motivated.
You’re ready to train.
Then your Whoop tells you recovery is 32%.
Suddenly you’re tired.
Suddenly you’re stressed.
Suddenly you’re questioning whether you should even train.
Think about how bizarre that is.
We’ve got people outsourcing their thoughts, feelings and decisions to a wristband.
If you want to stop drinking alcohol, fantastic.
If you feel better without it, crack on.
But if you want a couple of glasses of wine on holiday, a few beers at a wedding, or a night out with your mates, that’s fine too.
You can still get lean.
You can still get fit.
You can still build muscle.
You can still live a healthy life.
The fitness industry is becoming obsessed with optimisation when most people would be better off focusing on the basics
Train consistently.
Eat mostly good food.
Walk more.
Sleep well.
Drink some water.
Spend time with people you enjoy.
The reality is that a couple of drinks won’t ruin your life.
But constantly being told by a wearable device that you’re broken just might.
Use technology as a tool.
Don’t let it become your personality.

Huge congratulations to Penny and her husband on finally tying the knot over in Cyprus! 🇨🇾💍
Penny had already done an incredible job transforming her post-baby body, but as the wedding got closer, she stepped things up another level.
Despite the wedding planning, the stress, and everything that comes with it, she kept showing up. She trained hard, controlled the controllables, stayed consistent, and trusted the process.
The result? Looking absolutely phenomenal and enjoying some well earned downtime as a newlywed. 👏
Massive congratulations from all of Team 360. We’re incredibly proud of you.
And Penny… I still owe your husband that drink! 😂🍻

WITH OVER 15 YEARS OF COACHING EXPERIENCE
HERE’S WHAT MOST PEOPLE NEED TO HEAR.
The gym isn’t the problem.
In fact, the gym is the easy part.
The hard part?
Your lifestyle.
Your habits.
Your routines.
Your standards outside the gym.
Because the truth is, you cannot outtrain a lifestyle that keeps pulling you backwards.
Late nights.
Constant takeaways.
Alcohol every weekend.
Living off convenience food.
No structure.
No consistency.
No standards.
And before people get defensive
I’m not saying you need to live like a monk.
You don’t need to avoid meals out.
You don’t need to cancel holidays.
You don’t need to eat bland food forever.
But what DOES need to change is the lifestyle and habits that clearly aren’t serving you.
Because if they were working
you’d already be where you want to be.
And honestly?
I’m sick of the online world constantly telling people
“Go slow.”
“Take tiny steps.”
“Make it super manageable.”
Sometimes that advice keeps people stuck for YEARS.
Because the truth is
when people actually go ALL IN for a period of time, the penny drops much faster.
The quicker you improve your lifestyle,
the quicker you feel the benefits.
Better energy.
Better sleep.
Better mood.
Better confidence.
Better training sessions.
A leaner body.
A clearer mind.
And once people FEEL that
everything changes.
That’s when motivation appears.
That’s when standards rise.
That’s when the process becomes easier.
The boring stuff works
• Sleeping properly
• Eating quality food
• Drinking more water
• Training consistently
• Moving daily
• Managing stress
• Repeating it for months
That’s the secret.
Not fat burners.
Not detoxes.
Not another jab
Not going slow
Every single one of you reading this could completely change your body, fitness, energy and mindset within 6–12 months.
But for most people
it takes 6–12 YEARS.
Not because they can’t do it.
Because they never fully commit long enough to let the process work.
