Calling local artists!

We're offering three £500 artist commissions for people who live, work or have a strong connection to Bull Farm, Warsop and Ladybrook with one commission available in each area, to explore and celebrate the character, stories and identity of local communities through your chosen art form.

Whether you work in visual arts, music, performance, film, writing or something entirely different, this is your chance to showcase what your area means to you and the people who live there.

The successful artists will each receive £500, and their work will be showcased at Mansfield Museum, as well as on our website and social media channels.

While this project is focused on Bull Farm, Warsop and Ladybrook as part of our National Portfolio Organisation commitment with Arts Council England, we remain committed to supporting and connecting with communities across Mansfield and the surrounding areas. One day left of the brilliant Mansfield Town Film Festival event, which IS opening doors for our creative youngsters and others, showing them that they can enter the wider world of film and make a lasting difference in Mansfoeld and beyond!

This weekend at Mansfield Town Film Festival has been fantastic. Over hundred films shown thus far.

Last night was a mix of 'horror movies' in the Grave Mistakes strand. Not my favourite but the films were definitely thought provoking.

It continues today from 11.00am with films being shown all day
It ends this evening with the awards. The judges have been hard at work shortlisting the films and choosing the winners!

We are all winners with MTFF, which is opening doors for all of our creative residents. .

Tickets are still available at £10 for the day.

Yesterday I was honoured and privileged to attend, along with the Diane & Mark Sheldon, parents of Rifleman Adrian Sheldon, the annual Ri**es Association Service of Commemoration in York.

Adrian made the ultimate sacrifice, whilst serving in Afghanistan in 2009.

As Armed Forces Champion for Mansfield and MDC, I know how important it is for us all to support our current and former armed forces residents along with their families who make tremendous sacrifices every single day.

Diane and Mark have done some amazing work raising funds for numerous military charities over the years. That work keeps the memory of Adrian alive, whilst helping others who need that support.
