After a period of works within the Library, Manningtree Museum will be reopening on Easter Saturday the 19th April - 10.00 am to 4.00 pm with a new layout and displays.

We will again be supporting the Mysteries of Mistley event this year on the 21st June and opening up the Towers.

Mistley Towers Open days. This weekend, afternoons of the 7th & 8th September, the Adams designed Towers will be open, along with some displays and historic walks. There will also be displays and light refreshments at nearby Mistley Church Hall, New Road. The Museums new booklet on Mistley Quay and the wreck on the mud will also be available.

The Old Cobble wall in Mistley High Street, now has an information board. You may have wondered what the odd looking piece of wall in Mistley High Street was all about. Ros & Ian Mercer Essex geologists have found out and identified where from across the world the cobbles came from and come up with some interesting ideas about how they got here. With the support from E.D.M.E there is now an information board next to the wall, near Abbey House and the old Post Office.

We will again be running history tours of Mistley, Essex on Saturday 16th and Sunday 17th September from 2.00pm till 5.30 pm.
These will start at the Towers, which will be open, along with some displays.
The short walks will depart at approximately 2.30, 3.30 and 4.30 pm. The Longer walks (Rigby Ramble) 2.30 and 4.00 pm.
These are free and open to all.

Museum Group trip out to Shotley. Within a brief period of fine weather we were made very welcome at St Mary's Church & Ganges Museum, before retiring to The Rose Inn. Thanks to Alan for organizing.

All Manningtree Peasents are to gather this evening at 7.45 pm of the clock at the Methodist Church in South Street, where a mob will be formed to protest at the latest Poll Tax. Be prepared for a riot. First stop will be the outhouses of Thomas Hardyng the Lord of New Hall, Mistley who all know has been a plague to his neighbours for the last 20 years. Later we will make our way to London to arrive for a meeting with King Richard at Mile End on the day of the feast of Corpus Christy 1381.
