Fully qualified and experienced teachers I am Patrick. I have been teaching full time since 2000. I have spent 15 years teaching Maths in local secondary schools in the North Essex area and 6 years teaching year 5 and year 6. I love teaching but have always enjoyed small group teaching and/or 1:1 teaching where you can achieve even more with a student. I enjoy helping learners boost their

overall confidence in Maths as well as achieving the grades and outcomes they so desire and deserve. Tuition works wonders whatever the age of the learner. As you can see I offer a wide range of tutoring ranging from Primary school Maths and English, to Maths GCSE and adult learners too. I can offer 1:1 tuition or small group work (cheaper rate) if I have a few students wanting the same. You can decide what you feel would suit you best. Sessions can be for 60 or 90 minutes. Weekly or fortnightly. Prices from £25-40. Obviously I am fully DBS checked as I am still currently teaching. Feel free to contact me for an initial chat with any questions you may have. I am more than happy to meet face to face should you wish to put a face to a name! I look forward to hearing from you soon. Primary school Maths Year 3-6

Primary School Maths Year 3-6
Mathematics equips pupils with the uniquely powerful set of tools to understand and change the world. These tools include logical reasoning, problem solving skills and the ability to think in abstract ways. Mathematics is important in everyday life. It is integral to all aspects of life and with this in mind I endeavour to ensure that children develop a positive and enthusiastic attitude towards mathematics that will stay with them. I aim to provide the child with a mathematics curriculum and high quality teaching to produce individuals who are numerate, creative, independent, inquisitive, enquiring and confident. Whether it be general confidence boosting or helping prepare for the SATs, get in touch and I’ll be happy to help. Primary School English Year 3-6
I aim for children to learn to change the way they speak and/or write to fit different situations, purposes and audiences. They will encounter a range of fiction, non-fiction and poetry. They explore the use of language in literary and non-literary texts and learn how the structure of language works. I will also help them to develop their knowledge and understanding of grammatical terminology. Whether it be general confidence boosting or helping prepare for the SATs, get in touch and I’ll be happy to help.

11+ Tuition
I welcome students with the drive to ‘give it a go’ and will deliver a programme that maximises their chance of success. Participation in the 11+ programme is not only a great foundation for success in selective examinations but is also an effective preparation for SATs and transition to Secondary School. I can help with extending their core skills in maths and English, with a focus on verbal reasoning, non-verbal reasoning, writing composition, reading comprehension, punctuation, spelling and grammar. Key Stage 3 Maths Tuition/Years 7/8/9
A high-quality mathematics education provides a foundation for understanding the world, the ability to reason mathematically, an appreciation of the beauty and power of mathematics, and a sense of enjoyment and curiosity about the subject. I aim to ensure that students:
• become fluent in the fundamentals of mathematics, including through varied and frequent practice with increasingly complex problems over time, so that pupils develop conceptual understanding and the ability to recall and apply knowledge rapidly and accurately.
• reason mathematically by following a line of enquiry, conjecturing relationships and generalisations, and developing an argument, justification or proof using mathematical language.
• can solve problems by applying their mathematics to a variety of routine and nonroutine problems with increasing sophistication, including breaking down problems into a series of simpler steps and persevering in seeking solutions. Whether it be general confidence boosting or helping prepare for exams and their future GCSE years, get in touch and I’ll be happy to help. GCSE Maths Tuition Years 10/11
Grading from the new specification has now changed from grades A*-G to 9-1. 9 is now the equivalent of the top half of the A*, 5 a high C/low B, 4 at the baseline of the C and 1 at the baseline of the G. At the end of the 2 year course students will sit 3 exams each 90 minutes in length. All are out of a possible 80 marks and the first is non-calculator with the other 2 calculator. Students will explore key areas of mathematics such as: Number; Algebra; Ratio, Proportion and Rates of Change; Geometry and Measures; Statistics and Probability. Whether it be general confidence boosting, gaining a grade 4 or 5 for a college course or aiming for the top end grades, please feel free to get in touch. Post 16/Adult Tuition

Courtesy of Sky, but some good words for GCSE results day…

1. Set time aside to take a moment for yourself - Process the day and take some time out for yourself.

2. Make a plan for after you open your results - Having something to look forward to, no matter what it is, can help. As 16-year-old Emily Farrar put it: "It's party time now."

3. Chat to your friends about how you're feeling - When you are ready, it might help to talk to someone about how you are feeling, whether this be friends, family or someone else.

4. Know you've done everything you can - Try to accept your results.

5. Be proud of yourself - Be proud of yourself and your hard work and remember you are worth more than your grades.
