Seeing what you can achieve when you put your mind to it.
Exactly what apprenticeships are all about.
Thanks to Rae Johnson and Tim Owen from Greater Western Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust for sharing their experiences of their recent Damar apprenticeship from both apprentice and supervisor points of view, which resulted in a fantastic distinction result in Rae's business administration end-point assessment.
Well done, Rae! 👏

This week's Damar congratulations go to Abigail Bethell at University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust! 🎉
Not only are we saying congratulations for achieving a distinction in her business administrator end-point assessment but also for her ongoing commitment to the power of apprenticeships and for embracing the opportunity of the unknown.
Further to the below, she added:
"I feel more equipped when it comes to project management as before I would have been going into a project without any planning or decision-making tools. Additionally, looking down the professionalism and managing performance lens, it has helped me know my worth in the workplace and feel appreciated by my colleagues when I have done tasks that involve gathering feedback."
Well done, Abigail! 👏

Employees who hide who they are at work are stressed, exhausted, and less productive.
Psychological safety - the belief you won’t be punished or humiliated for speaking up - is the foundation of an inclusive, mentally healthy workplace. Leaders can model vulnerability, normalise accommodations, and provide multiple channels for disclosure.
Celebrating neurodiversity publicly signals that it’s safe to bring your whole self to work.
We champion this at Damar with the fantastic work of SEND Coordinator, Nadya Murray, who works with our apprentices and their employers to ensure full and proper support is provided for any and all requirements an apprentice may have.
Rachel Morgan-Trimmer sums it up: “You can see it in productivity and retention, but also in the liveliness of the organisation - when people feel they belong, energy improves, and creativity thrives.”

Most workplaces are designed for one kind of mind and it’s leaving talent untapped.
Traditional talent management assumes that everyone works, learns, and thinks in the same way. But roughly 1 in 5 people in your workforce process information differently.
When systems only reward 'standard' ways of working, you’re missing opportunities for innovation, efficiency, and engagement.
It’s not about hiring new people; it’s about designing your workplace to let the talent you already have thrive. Small changes like clearer communication, written agendas, or flexible schedules can make a huge difference without adding cost or complexity.
How could your team perform differently if you designed your workplace for all thinking styles?

What impact can a business administration apprenticeship have on someone's personal and professional development? According to this comment from Alex Young at AFG LAW, the answer is - a huge one! 👏
It's clear from his supervisor feedback, shared by Billy Makin, that Alex has been able to have a big impact on the team himself and has been a prime example of exactly why apprenticeships are such a powerful option for teams and individuals alike.
Congratulations again on your distinction, Alex - we're looking forward to seeing what you do next!
