Elijah, it is a pleasure to present you with the Caritas award this week. You showed great kindness, care, compassion and true St. Kentigern’s spirit when looking after your friends. They appreciated it very much and it epitomises the values of Family and Community - showing love for each other.

Thank you to the many families who joined us at St. Kentigern’s Church for our Year 6 Leavers’ Mass. The children were exemplary throughout and represented themselves, their families and our school with great pride. It was a beautiful opportunity to reflect on their journey through St. Kentigern’s and to celebrate all that they have achieved during their time with us.
We would also like to extend our sincere thanks to Fr Michael for his continued support and guidance. His contribution to our school community, not only for our Year 6 children but for all our pupils, families and staff throughout the academic year, has been greatly appreciated and valued.

Weekly newsletter 21-07-2026 Year 6 end of school highlights As this is the final newsletter of the academic year, I would like to take this opportunity to thank you all for the wonderful support you have given throughout the year.

Mrs Murray and her family proudly took part in the 136th annual Madonna del Rosario Procession through Manchester city centre this weekend, joining thousands of people in a long-standing tradition that celebrates both the Catholic faith and the rich heritage of Manchester’s Italian community. The procession, organised by the Manchester Italian Association, dates back to 1888 when it was established by Italian immigrants who settled in Ancoats, Manchester’s historic “Little Italy”.

Held on the first Sunday of July each year, the procession remains one of Manchester’s most significant religious and cultural celebrations. Participants proudly wear traditional Italian regional dress, alongside children in First Holy Communion attire, creating a colourful display of faith, heritage and community spirit.

Each year, religious emblems including the Madonna are carried from Ancoats through Manchester city centre before returning for a blessing, continuing a tradition that has been passed down through generations. Through events such as the Madonna del Rosario Procession, the Manchester Italian Association continues to preserve and promote the history, culture, faith and identity of Manchester’s Italian community while bringing together people of all backgrounds in celebration.

This week’s CARITAS Award goes to Cody, Khalisah, Amaiya, Jaden, Max, Zaiba, Mia and Nellie-Rose. These children took part in the Young Enterprise Fiver Challenge, demonstrating fantastic teamwork, creativity and enterprise skills. They spent their time designing and making bracelets, setting up their business and selling their products to others. Thanks to their hard work and determination, they raised an incredible £279.49 for the school. This is a fantastic achievement, and we are incredibly proud of everything they have accomplished. Well done, everyone – amazing!
