Little Legends Nursery

Hi everyone, just a quick reminder that next Monday is the Early May Bank Holiday. The nursery will therefore be closed next Monday, with sessions running as usual from Tuesday.

We had lots of fun in the sunshine today during our Forest School session. The children enjoyed exploring the paints, mixing lots of colours and using spray bottles and big paint brushes to create lots of interesting effects. The children got really creative with the spray bottles, using lots of imagination as they became Firefrighters and worked together to put out the chalk-board fire, left over from yesterdays play. As always, there was lots of climbing, balancing and jumping, supporting the development of the childrens physical skills and spatial awareness.

Books of the month for May

Each month in nursery each room focuses on a "Book of the month" which the children regularly enjoy at storytimes and during activities. This book is explored in greater depth with the children, and story props and actions are used as appropriate to support the childrens understanding of the story and to encourage the children to be able to retell the story independently in their own words.

We would like to say a big congratulations to Katelun who works in our Tweenie room and has been awarded the Role Model/inspirational award in the National apprenticeship week 2026.

⁉ Our analysis of inspection outcomes under the new framework is revealing an important trend — one that shows just how hard PVI nurseries are working, and how vital it is that they receive fair and equal recognition.

From the beginning of the year up to the end of February:

🔸 Only 1 out of 275 PVI nurseries (0.3%) has received an exceptional judgement
🔸 4 out of 111 schools (3.6%) with nursery provision have received exceptional judgements
🔸 Safeguarding outcomes are consistently strong across the sector, yet PVI nurseries are much less likely to be judged exceptional even when delivering high quality practice
🔸 PVI settings also show a wider range of gradings, often linked to the unique challenges they face, such as funding pressures, workforce shortages and fewer structural supports than schools.

Under the previous framework (2024), 98% of PVI nurseries were good or outstanding according to Ofsted, compared to 90% of schools. PVI nurseries are delivering the same love, learning and early education that ensures children get the very best start in life. Under the new framework, they are far less likely to receive exceptional recognition. We are investigating this.

Little Legends Nursery is a well established Day Nursery and Pre-School provision. We have been providing high quality childcare to the families of Reddish, since 2013.

Throughout February Preschool had lots of fun looking at their book of the month The Smeds and the Smoos . The children enjoyed Iistening to the story at grouptimes and are now able to sequence and retell the story in their own words.
The children took part in lots of activities linked to the book such as sensory activities,creative activities and junk modelling.
