🌟 Apprentice of the Week 🌟

This week, we’re proud to celebrate Riley Langley, who has made a brilliant start at dnata in just five months.

In that short time, Riley has grown in confidence and ability, to the point where he is already supporting and training new starters. That kind of progress doesn’t go unnoticed and says a lot about the effort he has put into developing in his role.

His employer spoke about the progress Riley has made since starting. They highlighted how his confidence has grown, especially in the way he asks the right questions and builds strong relationships with the drivers he works with. He also takes feedback on board and uses it to keep improving.

Last week, Riley was selected to support an audit on Emirates flights, something only a small number of trusted team members are chosen for. To be given that opportunity so early on is a real reflection of the standard he is working to.

It’s also great to see Riley already supporting those around him, not just focusing on his own development but contributing to the wider team.

A fantastic start and a very well-deserved recognition 👏

Well done, Riley!

✨ Stars of the Week ✨
This week, we’re celebrating two standout individuals who are making serious moves in their roles 👏

⭐ Stacey Perkins
Stacey at GRS continues to impress, earning her place in the top 20% of drivers within her company during a recent review.

What makes this even more incredible? She only gained her licence in mid-December.

To already be performing at this level just weeks into her new role shows real dedication, confidence, and a strong work ethic. We’re so proud to see her thriving and setting the standard so early on.

⭐ Josh Foster
Josh has recently stepped into a new role at Expect Distribution, progressing from Contracts Team Leader to Contracts Operations Manager, now overseeing all Contract Managers within the division.

He’s shared how the apprenticeship has played a key role in this progression, particularly through the masterclasses, which have strengthened both his time management and people management approach, giving him new techniques he’s been able to apply in his role.

His CPC knowledge has also developed significantly, and he now feels fully confident handling Transport Manager queries, from drivers’ hours to vehicle costings, and challenging expectations where needed.

A well-deserved promotion that reflects both his development and the real impact he’s making.

As most of you will know, International Women's Day 2026 took place on Sunday, which got us thinking about what it really means to be a woman working in the logistics industry.

While logistics has traditionally always been seen as a male-dominated industry, the voices in this post show how that view is changing. We asked several women what being a woman in logistics means to them.

Some of the perspectives featured in this post include Sami Bowler, Development Coach/Transport Manager, who reflects on the confidence it takes to step forward and truly own your role in an industry where women are still sometimes in the minority. Her words capture a feeling that many women in the industry will recognise- knowing you belong in the room and having the confidence to demonstrate that every day.

We also heard from Katarzyna Jasiłek-Sriti, Traffic Warehouse Operation Supervisor Level 3 learner, who shares her journey as a woman building a career in transport on TikTok through her page called “From Wbridge to Wheels.” She uses her platform to demonstrate what it is like to truly be a woman in logistics.

Another voice featured is Keely Priestman, future mentor, from Palletline, who highlights the importance of representation in the industry. As she explains, ‘when women see other women thriving in logistics it gives them the confidence to break barriers.’

These reflections highlight just how much the industry is evolving. The number of women entering logistics roles is growing, and with that comes more visibility, more representation and more opportunities.

This week, in honour of International Women’s Day, we’re taking a moment to reflect on how far the industry has come and to celebrate the many fantastic female learners who have been part of the National Logistics Academy, past and present, and who continue to help shape the future of logistics.💜

🌟 Apprentices of the Week 🌟

What a week it’s been as we celebrate two outstanding learner achievements 🎉

🚛 Stacey has passed her Cat C + E and has accepted a new contract as a driver, enabling her to progress within the company and even opening the opportunity to apply for a mortgage. Her manager at GRS Group describes her as a real asset to the business, highlighting her understanding of operations, systems and safety standards, which has allowed her to integrate seamlessly into the workforce.

🚛 Mark has recently passed his Cat C and accepted a new contract as a driver/loader, creating a clear internal progression route at Biffa. With driver shortages continuing across the UK, Biffa are committed to supporting the industry by upskilling and developing their employees.

Both learners have shown incredible commitment to their professional development and should be extremely proud of what they’ve achieved.
