Miss Winspear was honoured to attend the Buckingham Palace Garden Party celebrating the 70th anniversary of the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award and the achievements of DofE Gold Award holders.

Held at Buckingham Palace, the afternoon included inspiring speeches from HRH The Duke of Edinburgh and Dame Kelly Holmes, alongside appearances from special guests including David Seaman, Sara Davies, Katya Jones, Tyler West and Molly Rainford.

At Fairfield, we are incredibly proud to support the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award and the amazing opportunities it gives our students to develop confidence, resilience and valuable life skills.

As the warmer weather continues, we are supporting the RNLI’s important campaign to help keep our young people safe around water.

Open water such as rivers, canals, lakes and reservoirs can be extremely dangerous – even on hot days. Cold water shock, hidden currents and difficulty getting out of the water can quickly put lives at risk.

If you find yourself struggling in the water:
💧 Tilt your head back with ears submerged
💧 Relax and control your breathing
💧 Move your hands and legs to help you stay afloat
💧 Your legs may sink – that’s OK, everyone floats differently

Please take a few minutes to talk to your child about water safety and share this lifesaving advice with family and friends.

15 pupils went to the stock market challenge at Manchester University with Mrs Schofield and Mrs Gerrard where they worked in teams of 5 to trade shares and euros in a week of simulated trading.

All 3 teams made a profit but extra praise must go to Jean who won an Amazon voucher for her superb media reports which were highly praised by the judges. The pupils learned how to work as a team in a high pressure environment and learned skills they will be able to apply in their upcoming work experience placements!

Good luck to all of our Year 10 pupils starting their work placements this week!

Work placements are such a valuable opportunity for students to gain real-world experience, build confidence, develop workplace skills and explore potential future career paths. We hope this week gives our pupils an inspiring insight into the world of work and helps them grow both personally and professionally.

A huge thank you to all of the employers and organisations who have welcomed our students and are supporting them throughout their placements, your time, guidance and encouragement make a real difference.

We wish all of our students the very best of luck and hope they have a fantastic and rewarding experience!

Mental Health Awareness Week is a good reminder that no one should struggle alone during exam season.

At Fairfield High School students can access support from trusted staff pastoral teams safeguarding staff and wellbeing services throughout the school day. Families can also contact school if they have concerns about their child’s wellbeing during exams.

Helpful reminders:
• Take revision one step at a time
• Avoid comparing yourself to others
• Try to get enough sleep each night
• Make time to relax and recharge
• Be kind to yourself on difficult days
