Isla joined Canterbury Road Day Nursery as an apprentice in 2022 and has shown great commitment to her professional development. Having completed her Level 2 Early Years qualification and currently working towards her Level 3, she has progressed from Apprentice to Senior Practitioner and now to Room Leader of our Teenies room.

As Room Leader, Isla supports her team to deliver high-quality practice and ensure the smooth day-to-day running of the room. She leads by example and helps create a positive, nurturing environment for both children and colleagues.

Isla embodies our nursery’s family-focused ethos, building strong relationships with children, parents, and carers to ensure everyone feels welcomed, valued, and supported. She creates engaging learning opportunities for our youngest children and is skilled at recognising and responding to their individual needs, helping them feel secure and confident as they learn and develop.

Through her dedication, knowledge, and nurturing approach, Isla plays an important role in delivering high-quality early years education and care.

Meet Chloe, our caring Tinies Room Leader at Canterbury Road Day Nursery.

Chloe joined us as an apprentice in 2014 and, through her passion and dedication, progressed into her leadership role within our Tinies room. She creates a warm, nurturing environment where our youngest children feel safe, secure, and confident to explore and learn.

Chloe has strong relationships with families, truly embodying our family-focused ethos. As a mother herself, she brings both professional knowledge and personal understanding to her role every day. 💛

Meet Ash, our wonderful Third in Charge at Canterbury Road Day Nursery.

Ash has been part of our nursery family since 2014 and brings a wealth of experience across all age groups from 0–5 years. Holding a Level 4 qualification in Early Years Education and currently working towards her Level 5 Leadership qualification, Ash plays a key role in supporting our high standards of care and learning every day.

As our Physical Activity and Nutrition Co-ordinator, Ash is passionate about helping children develop healthy habits from an early age. As a parent herself, she understands just how important high-quality childcare is and loves building strong relationships with our families. 💛

This week, we are delighted to introduce Dionne, our wonderful Nursery Manager.

Dionne plays such an important role in supporting both our children and families through every stage of their nursery journey. From those very first settling sessions to preparing children for their next big step into school, she is there every step of the way, offering guidance, reassurance and care.

With a real passion for early development, Dionne leads our Under 2’s provision and has created our ‘Preparing You for Birth to Two’ training programme. This ensures our team fully understands how our youngest children learn, grow and form those all-important secure attachments. Thanks to her knowledge and dedication, our babies and toddlers enjoy a nurturing environment where they can truly thrive.

Alongside this, Dionne also manages our nursery funding and finances, carefully balancing everything to maintain our high standards while keeping our setting accessible to families in our community.

We are so lucky to have Dionne’s expertise, warmth and attention to detail at the heart of our nursery 💛

Mel has been a valued part of our nursery since 2012 and brings over a decade of leadership experience to the team. During her time as Nursery Manager, she led our setting to achieve Ofsted Outstanding in 2024, a reflection of her passion, dedication and high standards.

With a First Class BA Hons in Early Education, Mel is deeply committed to continuous learning and development. She now focuses on supporting and nurturing our team, creating meaningful training opportunities that strengthen teaching quality and enrich children’s learning experiences.

Mel’s expertise also extends to safeguarding and first aid training, ensuring our team is always equipped with the knowledge needed to keep every child safe, supported and cared for.

Her passion for developing others and her commitment to excellence helps ensure our nursery continues to provide the very best for every child and family we welcome 🌿
