Can you believe it's been a whole year already? 🎉

This week we're celebrating Emily and Leah's first year at Thrive!

Over the last 12 months they've supported so many children and families, embraced new challenges, shared plenty of laughs, and become an invaluable part of our team.

Who knew a car wash could do so much? 🚗💦

Beth has had a great time in sessions this week using a 'car wash' activity to support different communication goals.

This playful activity can be adapted to support:
🗣️ Language modelling for analytical and Gestalt Language Processors
🔑 Key vocabulary (wash, clean, wet, splash)
🏃 Verbs and action words
📏 Concepts like big/small and dirty/clean
💬 Sentence building
🤝 Turn taking
👂Following instructions

💙 We're back and ready for a new school year! 🎉

The Thrive Communication Therapy team is looking forward to supporting schools, children, and families throughout the year ahead. From classroom support and assessments, to therapy sessions and training, we're excited to continue helping children develop the communication skills they need to thrive. 🐝

"What do you need right now?" 🤔

Before we can answer that question, we need to notice the signals our body is giving us. This is called interoception.

Interoception is our ability to notice signals like hunger, thirst, tiredness, or big feelings. When we can recognise these signals, we're better able to communicate our needs, emotions, and experiences to others. 🍏🥤☀❄

For some children, noticing and interpreting these signals can be tricky. This can make it harder to communicate needs, understand emotions, or explain how they're feeling.

When children develop awareness of their internal body signals, they can be better supported to communicate their needs, emotions, and wellbeing. 💚

A huge thank you to all the families, schools and settings we've worked with this year. It's been a busy one!

We're really looking forward to supporting more children and young people over the summer break and getting organised for the new school year. Over the holidays our team will be taking some well-earned time to switch off, recharge and enjoy the summer with their own families. 💛

Thank you to every family, school and nursery who have welcomed us in and supported our journey so far. It is a joy to work in such a supportive community.
