Over 3.5 million children are now being homeschooled in the United States alone. The COVID-19 pandemic has also played a role in this trend, with many families opting for homeschooling as a way to avoid the risks associated with in-person learning during the pandemic. In addition, many parents have reported that homeschooling has given them the flexibility to tailor their child's education to their individual needs and interests.
As this trend continues to grow, it's important to recognize the challenges that come with homeschooling. Parents who choose this path must either take on the responsibility of being their child's primary educator, or access specialist help, which can be a daunting task. However, with the right resources and support, homeschooling can be a rewarding and effective way to educate children.
We think home education (as it's generally known in the UK) is still underdeveloped but at Tutors & Futures we are seeing more and more enquiries from new starters. We are also seeing an increase in the number of universities actively seeking home educated students.

Students across the country will receive their GCSE results tomorrow. Many of them will be home educated students awaiting an email from their private exam centres. I find that whenever I tell people that I work with home educators, there is a great deal of confusion as to why anybody would choose to take their children out of school.
How do the parents cope!?
How do the kids make friends!?
Why would you do that!?
I do understand some of the reservations. In fact, I have at times advised families against home education when Iβve felt that there was a fundamental misunderstanding of why it was useful, or when I didnβt believe it was in the best interests of the child.
However, when a family commits to home education, it really can allow students to thrive, and Iβve had the pleasure of seeing hundreds of examples of that over the past 8 years.
I received an update on one of those students just a few days ago.
She had taken the UCAT (University Clinical Aptitude Test) and achieved the highest score for the University of Manchester.
Home education works!

Weβve had lots of positive messages today informing us of brilliant results from the January IGCSEs. These achievements stand out as there was so much uncertainty around Omicron at the time. We would like to congratulate all students.

It's that time of year when private candidates and home educated students make the decision whether to enter for examinations this summer or not. Whilst some deadlines have now passed, there is still availability at certain centres. We advise people to contact our exam partners Tutors and Exams if you haven't already, as they will provide the best possible service.
If you are based in South Manchester, then both Intuition Centres and Macclesfield Tutorial have always been brilliant with our students in the past.
However, we understand that not everyone resides close to one of those centres, so we have included the list below which details all centres willing to accept private candidates this summer.
