We’re delighted that our latest dance film, Strange Fruit, has been selected to screen at Nottingham Film Festival this November.

Strange Fruit is a powerful short dance film inspired by Billie Holiday’s song, first recorded in 1939. The film draws focus to the brutal act of lynching and the historical struggle that people of colour have endured.

At the heart of the dance film is an electrifying solo performance by dancer Kadafi Mulula, whose physicality creates a raw intensity that captivates.

Deeply moving, the power of the movement is exemplified by the lyrics and the overarching sounds of the trumpet, saxophone and piano in the song.

As a homegrown organisation, Company Chameleon is proud to be part of the Greater Manchester Combined Authority Culture Fund Portfolio for the next three years.

This funding gives us the resources we need to invest in our people, our team and our programme of activity, ensuring we can deliver meaningful experiences for everyone we work with.

Chameleon is among one of 48 local organisations to receive funding from the latest round of Greater Manchester’s Culture Fund, boosting arts, culture and creativity across the city-region.
