Congrats to our EYFS superstars.
St Patrick's R.C. Primary School, Manchester
St. Patrick's R.C. Primary School, is one of Manchester's oldest Catholic Primary Schools. We were a Here is Brian Kidd with Sr. Patrick's!
Our school has a very rich history that dates back to 1836, when three Presentation Sisters arrived from Ireland to open a school. We are very proud of the fact that our school was the first school to give free education to girls. In 1886, over 1,000 girls aged between 7 and 14 attended the school. Thomas Lavery a local rich silk merchant, was horrified at the conditions that very young girls had

Year 6 have finished their tennis unit today by putting all of their skills to the test in a game situation!
Pupils were able to use a mixture of forehand and back hand shots as well as volleys and an underarm serve! I wonder if we have a future Wimbledon star in our midst?โฆ ๐ ๐พ
Year 6 have been looking at setting goals for themselves in PSHE this week as they get closer to transitioning to high school! This week, Year 6 have been discussing what they can do to make sure that they achieve these goals ๐
Then Year 6 looked at how different challenges can affect whether people reach their goals and how we can help others overcome those challenges! ๐ญ๐๐ฏ
๐ฅณ CELEBRATION ASSEMBLY ๐ฅณ
Itโs Friday so that must mean only one thing at St. Patrickโsโฆ.itโs time to celebrate our achievements from another busy week in school!!
Well done to our A.C.E. stars ๐ of the week and lunchtime award winners for
demonstrating the Gospel Values!
St Luke ๐ด were the winning house this week for gaining the most house points for positive behaviour. Well done ๐
We had other children rewarded for their efforts with online learning with Mathletics and Numbots. Five Year 6 children were awarded a Pen Licence too! ๐๏ธ
Last but not least, we sang happy birthday ๐ to those children celebrating being another year older at this time.
Year 3 designed Ancient Egyptains necklaces ready for their workshop next week.
We have that Friday feeling in year 3 ๐ ๐บ
Miss McEwan and Miss Corcoran have big smiles on their faces after the children burst into a spontaneous and beautiful sing song during a cutting and sticking task ๐ต๐ถ๐ค๐
*edit* Miss Cusick informed us that year 2 heard our singing from next door and joined in. Joy is infectious ๐
Have a look at Year 5's beautiful final pieces! They worked really hard today on their inspirational quotes.
Today is year 5's art day! They have been inspired by local artist, Myro Doodles. This morning, they went to look at all the drawings she has done around our school and researched her work online. Then, they had a go at making their own doodles to get them used to setting pencil to paper.
Their next step was to research different fonts and quotes from famous people to use in their final piece.
This afternoon they will be creating a final piece with a mixed media background and inspirational quote as the foreground.
Stay tuned to see how they turn out!

Holy communion party day โ๏ธ๐๐๐ฅณ
These children should be so proud of themselves! We began the day with a special mass so the whole school could support and celebrate these children.
In the afternoon, we changed into our party clothes for a fabulous party lunch followed by games and dancing ๐ ๐ฅณ ๐ ๐
Thank you to all the parents and school staff who made today possible!
The Fire Service have been in school this week to speak to our Year 6 children about how to keep safe during the summer holidays and the dangers of open water! โ๏ธ๐
With our older children becoming more independent, itโs so important that they know how to keep themselves safe when they are out without an adult!
They also had the opportunity to see just how powerful a fire engine water hose really is!!! ๐ฆ ๐
Today in PE, year 5 were concentrating on speed. This required them to work on their sprinting technique. They worked in groups to offer constructive feedback to their peers on how they could improve their speed.
Year 3 topic ๐
Today we discovered why the process of mummification was important to the Ancient Egyptians. We decided to try it on an orange to see if we can preserve it!
After cleansing the fruit in the water of St Patrick's school, we carefully removed the inards. Then it was time to fill the orange with baking soda and salt. We also added cinnamon for a nice smell! Finally, we wrapped our orange in linen bandages just like the Egyptains did.
In PSHE this week, Year 5 have been learning about Catholic Social Teaching. They learnt what the CST principles are, then designed a super hero that embodied the CST principles. Here is just one of the magnificent examples that they designed!
Year 3 have been working hard on fronted adverbials in preparation for year 4.
We used whiteboards during our starter today so the children could ask their partner to check their comma placement. It is tricky but we are making excellent progress and reading the sentence aloud always helps! โ ๐ ๐คฉ
Congratulations to our Holy Communicants โช๏ธ ๐
This morning, we came together to celebrate the children who were making their First Holy Communion.
Thank you to all of the parents, carers, family and friends who came to celebrate this very special day. โจโช๏ธ
Yesterday, Year 5 had a fantastic PE lesson! They were practicing throwing the ball like a bowler. This required a straight aim and good timing so the ball doesnโt go too high or too low. Then, in groups they practiced batting, bowling and being backstop before taking part in a whole class game.
Well done year 5!
Year 3 had their first independent attempt at the year 4 times tables test this afternoon. Miss McEwan was astounded to find that 5 children scored 25/25 on their first try! There were other children who were very close to full marks.
Parents, you can use the website 'mathsframe,' for your child to practise the MTC (multiplication tables check) for free, as many times as they'd like! This will give them a huge head start for the real test in Year 4! ๐โ๐
Year 1 have enjoyed doing races this week and showed great sportsmanship by cheering their teammates on.
Today in our German lesson with Miss Gee, Year 4 have been learning about the weather! We looked at the different words for weather in German, such as Es ist windig- it is windy Es ist kalt - it is cold and Es ist sonnig- it's sunny and then sang a German song about the weather.
Today in German, year 5 were learning to name the different objects that you would have in a beach bag! They also learnt about Kalifornien, a place in German where many people enjoy the sun, sea and sand!
Year 2 have been learning all about treasures in their RE lessons. We have learnt about the story of creation and how we must look after what God has made. ๐ ๐ฆ ๐ชด Today, Miss Cusick had another special treasure in her boxโฆ. us! ๐
In Year 5, we have been conducting a science experiment. We mixed salt and water and tried to filter the salt out. We discovered that the salt had dissolved, and was too small to be trapped in the filter paper.
Then, we thought about evaporating the water as a way of separating the solution! Year 5 have now left the solution on a plate in the sun and will keep checking of it, to see what is happening. We will keep you updated on the outcome!

Year 5 must have slept soundly last night!
They had a very tiring PE lesson, testing their stamina whilst running over long distances. They partook in several different running length events to show how speed needs to be adjusted when running over certain distances.
Then, they ran for a solid 6 minutes to finish off the lesson! Itโs safe to say, despite their exhaustion, the were so proud that they had managed to keep running, despite feeling tired and were elated at their achievement !
Year 3 put their artist hats on this afternoon to create a card for a loved one. ๐
Another amazing stay and play based on our topic of buildings. It was fantastic to see so many parents here and getting involved in their childrenโs learning. We followed instructions, built walls, cars and even hammers. Looking forward to the next one on the 5th of July and hope to see even more of our fantastic parents there.
Year 6 Journey Through Time - The Windrush Generation โด๏ธ๐ฏ๐ฒ
Our new History topic was brought to life as the children experienced a workshop based on the Windrush. โด๏ธ
The children learnt about the history of the event, why people came over to Great Britain after WW2 and what happened when they arrived.
Pupils developed their understanding of how they may have felt through role play and showed their understanding further through a debate! ๐ญ
Many of the children expressed how much they had learnt in this session! ๐
EYFS Play workshop tomorrow morning from 9.00am to 10.00am. Looking forward to seeing you there for some hands on fun.
Year 5 got a reply from the Pope!!
When the class were doing vocations in RE, they sent Pope Francis letters asking about his vocation to priesthood and ultimately to becoming Holy Father. The letters were given to the Papal Nuncio during a mass he celebrated.
Year 5 have now received a reply on behalf of Pope Francis, thanking the children for their letters and informing them that Pope Francis will be praying for them and their families.
Year 3 science ๐ฌ๐งช๐ญ๐ฅผ
Today we explored friction...โฝ๏ธ๐ณ๏ธ๐๐
The children working scientifically to test the friction of different surfaces by rolling a marble along it. They were able to demonstrate that the marbles moved slower along a rougher surface because of the higher level of friction acting upon it.
