Huge congratulations to Prep V’s Joe, who has been crowned Greater Manchester Champion after an incredible throw of over 16 metres in the new U12 javelin discipline using a 400g metal javelin.

Even more impressive is the teamwork behind this success. Just four weeks ago, Year 9 pupil Arthur began coaching Joe as part of his Duke of Edinburgh Award, alongside his junior coaching role at Salford Mets. Recognising Joe’s natural talent, Arthur has been passing on his knowledge and experience, with both showing real commitment to their training sessions.

This fantastic achievement is a testament to hard work, dedication, and the power of mentorship. Well done, Joe and Arthur - a brilliant example of Bridgewater collaboration in action!

During the February half term, Year 7 and 8 pupils took part in the 2026 MEM Challenge Competition, run by the University of Liverpool. Participants were required to solve a series of problem-solving questions, clearly demonstrating the methods they used to reach their final answers.

The Maths Department is incredibly proud of Year 7's Elsie, who was awarded a Certificate of Merit and invited to attend the awards ceremony at the University which took place last week.

The event celebrated the top 87 entries out of 1,218 submissions. Attendees were invited to take part in a range of maths puzzles before being presented with their certificates and prizes. Well done Elsie, a fantastic achievement!

We are delighted to share the results of the recent UK Mathematics Trust Junior Maths Challenge.

An incredible 40 Bridgewater pupils have achieved Gold, Silver or Bronze awards – our best results to date. It’s wonderful to see so many of our young mathematicians recognised and rewarded for their hard work and enthusiasm. Special congratulations to Prep VI’s Poppy and Year 8’s Ismail and Gabriel, whose outstanding performances have earned them an invitation to the next round of the competition: the Junior Kangaroo.

The UKMT is part of the Association Kangourou sans Frontières, a global initiative promoting a love of mathematics among young people, with around six million participants worldwide each year.

We are immensely proud of all our pupils for their achievements!

Yesterday, we were pleased to welcome representatives from the Eko STEM Outreach Initiative to Bridgewater School for a series of interactive workshops.

Working in groups, students took on roles including project managers, financial planners, engineers and designers, as they tackled real-world STEM challenges. It was great to see them working together, sharing ideas and finding practical solutions.

The sessions focused on building important skills such as collaboration, communication, critical thinking and creativity - skills that will support them both in school and beyond. A really enjoyable and productive day for everyone involved.

As the football season reaches its conclusion, we’re proud to celebrate another outstanding sporting achievement.

Last weekend, Year 9’s Malia played in the final of the Manchester FA County Cup with her team, AFC Bolton U15s Girls Grey, playing a year group up. After a fantastic run, her team finished as runners-up against Super League side AFC Monton.

It didn’t stop there - during a busy weekend of football, Malia was also scouted by two clubs at the Pro11 Football Trials in Chester!

A huge well done to Malia for her determination and talent. We can’t wait to see what’s next. Go Lioness!

Yesterday we were delighted to welcome David Milne from the Manchester Humanist Society for a series of engaging, thought-provoking sessions with our students.

Working with a Year 10 class and a mixed Year 10/Year 12 group, David explored key Humanist ideas, including perspectives on the purpose of life and how science can inform and support Humanist beliefs.

Students were fully engaged throughout and especially valued the open Q&A, asking insightful questions and debating a range of philosophical and ethical issues.

A fantastic opportunity to broaden understanding of non-religious worldviews and support learning in Religious Studies and Philosophy.

We’re delighted to share more fantastic sporting success from the weekend.

A huge congratulations to Year 7’s Noah and his team, Meadowside Marvels (U12s), who were crowned Timperley and District League Spring Cup champions after an exciting 3–2 win in the final game!

It was a true team effort on the pitch, making the victory all the more special. An extra proud moment for Noah’s family too, as it marked his dad’s first win as coach.

Well done to Noah and all the team on a brilliant achievement!
