A huge thank you to Louisa Mason – former Freddie’s student, PhD researcher, and podcaster with The Jodcast at Jodrell Bank – for visiting STEM Club tonight.
Louisa shared her advice on setting up a podcast, interviewing guests, and creating engaging content as our students begin work on the FLHS STEM Podcast.
Lots of brilliant ideas and inspiration. Watch this space for Episode 1!

We’re incredibly proud to share that Fred Longworth High School has been awarded the prestigious Platinum Artsmark Award – the highest level of recognition from Artsmark and Arts Council England.
This award reflects the value we place on arts and culture across our school and recognises the wide range of opportunities available to our students, both in and beyond the classroom. From Art, Drama, Music and Dance lessons to performances, exhibitions, workshops and partnerships with cultural organisations, creativity is an important part of life at Fred Longworth.
The Platinum Award recognises the hard work and commitment of staff who continue to develop and champion our arts provision, ensuring that all students have access to high-quality creative experiences throughout their time with us.
We are also incredibly proud of our students, whose enthusiasm, participation and creativity help make our arts programmes such a success.
A fantastic achievement for the whole school community, and one we are delighted to celebrate.

"They would come back to class having read a message or seen something that's upset them and made them angry and they'd come back to class a different person." 😢
Pupils at Fred Longworth High School must place their phones inside the pouches and lock them as they line up in forms at the start of each morning. Students who do not have their phone or pouch are checked with an electric wand to detect any hidden devices.
📵 The pouches remain locked all day until pupils reach unlocking stations placed around the building at home time.

🎙️ STEM Club Podcast – We Are Underway!
A fantastic first session tonight as our STEM Club team began brainstorming ideas for our very first podcast episode.
From science and technology to engineering, innovation and everything in between, students were full of creative ideas, thoughtful discussions and plenty of enthusiasm for what is to come.
This is just the beginning, and we cannot wait to start recording and sharing our conversations, interviews and STEM discoveries with the wider school community.
🎧 Watch this space for our first episode coming soon.
