A feast of Beethoven! Monday 9th March 2026 7pm
As the final concert of the Manchester Chamber Concerts Society's 25/26 season the Elias quartet present an all-Beethoven programme, celebrating the composer's genius at writing breathtaking, dramatic works for the string quartet.
Renowned for their interpretations of this master composer, the Elias quartet have recorded Beethoven's complete string quartets for the Wigmore Live Label.

The renowned Sitkovetsky Trio, recipients of the BBC Music Magazine’s Chamber Music Award and first prize winners at the International Commerzbank Chamber music award will soon appear in Manchester. This concert in the first rate acoustics of the Stoller Hall is a rare opportunity to hear music by French composer Cècile Chaminade. In 1913, she was awarded the Légion d’Honneur, a first for a female composer. Her Piano Trio No. 2 in A min is a work filled with gorgeous and lyrical melodies, as is the concert’s finale work, Brahms’ Piano Trio No. 2 in C Major.

Alkyona Quartet | Stoller Hall

The Alkyona released their album, Janáček’s ‘Intimate Letters’ String Quartet in June 2020, which they now perform for Manchester Chamber Concerts Society. This is the ultimate storytelling string quartet – Janacek’s musical love letter to his life’s love. The rest of this programme ranges from 17th Century Henry Purcell to a piece by Dobrinka Tabakova, former Halle artist-in-residence 2022-2023. The concert opens with one of the classic “Sun” string quartets by Haydn that earned him the name as “the father of string quartets”.

The Brodsky Quartet have collaborated with many different musicians down the years, including Björk and Elvis Costello! In their December concert they’ll be returning to their roots, performing Shostakovich’s String Quartet No.9 amongst other works.
