We were deeply saddened to learn recently of the passing of violinist and RNCM alumnus Blaize Henry at the age of 34. Blaize joined the RNCM as an undergraduate in 2010, studying with Steve Wilkie, and quickly became a much loved member of the RNCM community. Blaize went on to establish himself as a highly respected chamber musician and educator and was a long-standing member of the Chineke! Orchestra.
Fellow graduate, Linton Stephens, has set up a JustGiving page, raising money to commission a piece in memory of Blaize: https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/linton-stephens-1
Our thoughts are with Blaize’s family, friends, and colleagues at this difficult time. He will be greatly missed.

It’s good to be back, and we’re kicking off 2026 with some exciting news!
We’re thrilled to share that the RNCM has now been authorised by the Office for Students to grant Research awards, giving us Full Degree Awarding Powers up to and including Level 8.
This strengthens our position as a leading centre for the advanced study of music performance and composition, theoretical and applied musicology, music psychology, and music education.
