On the anniversary of the Taliban's takeover of Afghanistan, we recognize all the Afghan women and girls who have shown courage and determination in the face of unimaginable challenges. Because of them, a new generation of Afghan children believe in their fundamental equality.

Now is the time to stand with Afghan women and girls and invest in their future. Sesame is committed to supporting the youngest children and their caregivers who will play a critical role in the years ahead.

If you want to get your teenager doing something fun and productive, you can sign them up for a two-week National Citizen Service (NCS) programme. These include activities and outdoor team-building exercises, a trip away where teenagers can learn life skills, and a community-based social action project. It's usually ยฃ50, but can be free for some via a bursary (more on that below).

You need to live in England and your child must be aged 16 or 17 at the time of the trip (or 18 to 24 with SEND or a disability). It doesn't matter if they're at school or not, but if they've been on an NCS programme before, unfortunately they can't go again.
Thousands of places are made available when the scheme launches, but when we asked NCS how many were still available, it told us they're limited and selling fast โ€“ so it's best to go quick. The programmes will take place during the dates of your local area's summer break and you must book in advance. All food, activities, transport and accommodation are included.

So... last week Thursday one of the children's parents arrived to take them home. We noticed of the little boys had tears in his eyes, when asked if he was OK and why he looked so sad he wouldn't say what was wrong.

Later that evening I got a text from mum saying, "*child eventually told her why he was upset..... he didn't want to leave because he was having so much fun" ๐Ÿฅฐ๐Ÿฅฐ๐Ÿฅฐ

On Monday, my almost 5 year old son taught me about Alma Woodsey Thomas. Yesterday we re created her artwork.

Didn't we do a great job!?!

I wonder who he will teach us about next...
