New changes to the Paternity Policy will come into force on Friday, 8 March and take effect from Saturday, 6 April 2024.
The main changes are:
• Eligible employees have the option to either take their two weeks paternity leave concurrently, or they can choose to split their paternity leave and associated paternity pay into two non-consecutive periods of leave of a week each;
• Eligible employees will be able to take their leave and pay at any time during the first 52 weeks of the birth or the placement of the child for adoption;
• Eligible employees are still required to inform their line manager of their entitlement to paternity leave 15 weeks before the expected week of childbirth (EWC), however, employees will only need to give 28 days’ notice of the dates they wish to take off as paternity leave.
These changes will impact employees who will are eligible for paternity leave and whose child is due to be born on or after Saturday, 6 April 2024.
