Our new paper "Risk factors associated with respiratory infectious disease-related presenteeism: a rapid review" is now in pre-print in the MedRivx database (link below).
The paper gives evidence for workplace pressures that leads to presenteeism and their relevance to the risk of respiratory infectious disease (RID), including COVID-19. It also gives recommendations for workplace policies that can be used to reduce RID-related presenteeism.

Good morning! Today is the second day of the CPD induction sessions. This morning we've got some more introductory lectures this morning about risk assessments, musculoskeletal health and occupational ethics. In the afternoon we'll be exploring the resources that The University of Manchester has to offer and taking a look at our online virtual learning environment! One of the great things about our courses is they can all be completed via distance learning - on this course we have attendees from all over the UK and abroad, including Trinidad & Tobago, and Gibraltar.

Welcome to all our new CPD Occupational Medicine students who are starting today and attending the induction session on Zoom!
We started off with a breakout to discuss why students were doing the course and key emerging issues in the field of occupational medicine. Of course this included COVID itself, as well as knock on impacts such as skin disease due to alcohol gels, musculoskeletal issues associated with working from home and changes to mental ill health.

Are you a delivery worker in the UK, over the age of 18? Get involved in some research today and complete our COVID-19 survey. (Link below!)
Preliminary results of a social contact survey find that delivery workers can benefit from better protection from COVID. We at The University of Manchester and Lancaster University have been conducting a research study to collect information on work contacts made by couriers in the UK. Pre-peer-review results show that delivery workers cannot avoid social contacts at all times, some continued working with COVID-19 symptoms because they couldn’t afford not to, and over two thirds of the food and groceries couriers surveyed said they did not receive statutory sick pay if unwell, suggesting current government and private schemes to help self-employed workers should go further.
We are looking to recruit further participants to ensure we collect as much data as possible. This study is open to any home delivery worker in the UK, over the age of 18. Please share and tag anyone you know who may be interested! Please visit the site below and select "Take the Delivery Driver Survey".
CoCoNet Study
By better understanding how social contact patterns are changing in the UK, we can improve predictions of COVID-19 transmission.
