What a wonderful evening we shared on Tuesday at Luther King for the launch of Graham Adams' new book, The Anarchic Spirit: Interpreting the Bible and the World in Troubled Times.

We were delighted to hear reflections from Eleazar Fernandez and Revd Dr Janet Wootton, whose insights sparked thoughtful conversation about faith, interpretation, and the challenges facing our world today.

We’re proud to be hosting this upcoming symposium exploring ageing, faith and spirituality, bringing together current and recent research with insights from practice.

With contributions from chaplains and researchers including Revd. Felicity Cowling-Green and Revd. Joseph Zulu, the event will explore topics including paediatric critical care and colour perception in dementia.

An opportunity for academic researchers, chaplains, health professionals and anyone interested in spirituality and faith development to connect, share research and learn from one another.

🎓 From PhD research at Luther King to real-world impact!

We’re delighted to celebrate the publication of an article by Helen Hindle, one of our former PhD students, in Practical Theology.

“In harmony with creation: perspectives from older people living in residential care homes in Northwest England” draws on Helen’s research, exploring the perspectives and experiences of older people living in residential care.

Helen’s work is a wonderful example of the kind of contextual, engaged research that can emerge from a PhD at Luther King. Our research is rooted in the realities of communities and the world around us, exploring how theology can inform care, ministry and practice.

This weekend we're welcoming students for our first residential of the year! We hope it is a wonderfully reflective time, where you can get to know your denominational cohort and our staff! Our students will experience the cultural sights of Manchester, learn about nurturing safer, braver spaces in faith and pray together.

We can't wait to see our site bustling again with brilliant minds and passionate people.

There's still time to sign up to audit one of our favourite modules on offer, The Arts, Culture, and Christian Ministry 🖌

In what ways can our theological understanding be guided and strengthened by an engagement with the arts? How do contemporary artists draw on theological and spiritual themes when they create? How might the arts enrich and deepen our spiritual journey? Could our churches be challenged in new ways through encounters with the arts?

These are the kind of questions we will explore in this module. We want to see how the arts can shape and nourish our faith and how faith often shapes the arts within our contemporary culture. We want to see what it might mean to nurture the Christian imagination within society today.

This module will demand a lot of us! It is ‘cross-disciplinary’ – asking us to bring together theology with art history and interpretation, the nature of aesthetics, and hermeneutical theories. But it is this openness to different areas of knowledge and understanding that should make the module exciting and inspiring!
