🔭 | What does half a year of planetary motion look like in a single image?

Six months ago, thanks to a generous gift from the Institute of Physics (Manchester branch), we installed a 'Solar Can' on the roof of DHS. This specialised long-exposure camera has been silently watching the sky from the summer solstice all the way to the winter solstice.

The result is breathtaking. Looking out towards the Manchester skyline, you can see the ghostly silhouettes of the roof railings and distant trees beneath a series of glowing arcs. These 'sun trails' tell the story of our seasons: the highest arc marks the peak of summer, while the lowest tracks the sun’s path at the depth of winter. It is a stunning, tangible reminder of the Earth’s incredible journey around the sun!

🎁 | Thank you to our amazing community!
We'd like to say a huge thank you to everyone who supported our Mission Christmas and Chorlton & Didsbury Food Bank appeals.

We received an incredible number of gifts, raised £495 in cash donations to buy even more presents, and collected over 240kg of food for the food bank.

We’re truly blown away by the kindness of our school community – we far surpassed last year’s donations, and every single gift and item will go to people who need them most this festive season.
