Lancashire & Cheshire Antiquarian Society Tour of Angel Meadow: 19th June 2026, 11.00 am.

This will be led by local Historian Dr Dean Kirky, an expert on the area, and will cost £12 per person. LCAS mmebers and non-members will meet outside the Sadler's Cat Pub in Sadler's Yard, which is named after the first English aeronaut, James Sadler, who carried out a balloon flight here in 1785.

We were deeply saddened to hear of the death of Bob Humphry-Taylor last month, who led the Mellor Archaeological Trust and was involved with promoting Marple's heritage for many years. Well known in the Greater Manchester archaeology community, we offer our condolences to his family and colleagues.
