Delighted to share that Dr Muhammad Omar Shaikh from Tunghai University (Taiwan) has been awarded the RSC Applied Interfaces and Nanoscale Journal Family Prize for the Best Young Scientist Technical Talk at NANOSMAT 2026 in Rhodes, Greece held during 6–10 July 2026 (https://xantec.com.sg/ironix/nanosmat/2026).

This prestigious prize was sponsored by the Royal Society of Chemistry, recognising outstanding technical talks from RSC Applied Interfaces, Nanoscale Horizons, Nanoscale, and Nanoscale Advances.

A fantastic achievement and a proud moment for the wider nanotechnology and materials science community. Well deserved recognition for excellent research and an outstanding presentation on the international stage.

Thanks to everyone who attended and participated in the 17th NANOSMAT conference successfully held in Rhodes (Rodos), Greece during 6-10 July 2026 (www.nanosmat.org).

We tried our best to organise a "memorable" conference in the beautiful island of Rhodes.

Congratulations to our award winners: Professor Max Lu for winning the NANOSMAT Prize 2026; and Professor Qammer H. Abbasi for winning the 2026 KROTO Medal (named after the late Nobel Prize Professor Harry KROTO).

Qammer H. Abbasi is a Professor of Applied Electromagnetics & Sensing with the James Watt School (JWS) of Engineering (University of Glasgow), Theme lead for Connecting People priority at JWS, Director for Communication Sensing and Imaging (CSI) Hub, Co-Director in Centre for Doctoral Training in Diversity-Led, Mission-Driven Research, UK Government’s Policy Advisor in Department for Science Innovation & Technology and Expert Advisor for Scottish Government's Scotland Technology Council and Scottish Science advisor council member.
