Healthy Start Scheme!

This scheme provides financial assistance to low income families with young children and/ or pregnant woman to help with the costs of food shopping.

The card can be used to purchase fruit, veg, milk at participating shops.

The Healthy Start card is accepted wherever you see the Mastercard sign displayed.

Yesterday the children took part in activities with the fantastic Nature Centre that are based in the park. The children helped make a Bug Hotel that is now visible in the park just passed the bowling green near the rangers huts!
Go and have a look and see if you can find some bugs to put in the hotel!
Also look out for activities that will be happening this week in the park!

As this term comes to an end, we want to wish you all a happy and healthy break.
There will be a few changes at nursery in the new year, as we sadly have to say goodbye to Alex, who has a new job with Manchester Council Early Years Special Educational Needs Outreach, starting in the new year. We would like to thank her for all of her hard work and dedication and she will be greatly missed. Her replacement as Deputy manager and SENDCO is Caitlin.
Alex has been a fantastic support for the nursery and families, she has gained a great deal of knowledge about SEND and will be an asset to Manchester Council.
We would like to welcome Fatima to the team, who is our new practitioner in toddlers and will be getting to know you all in the new year.
Jane will also be joining us in the new year in toddlers, she is a very experienced and qualified member of staff.
Lynn will now become our Lead Practitioner for teaching and learning and will work closely with Sally in the new year to oversee the quality of the curriculum.

In preschool this week we have been creating real life experiences. In our new home corner we have had the chance to cut our own fruit and veg, make some tea in our tea pots and making apple pies with our own grown apples from our garden! Today we have had the chance to experience having our own BBQ in our den. We talked about the safety of fire and the safety of cooking. All the children have enjoyed watching the sausages cook and most of all eating them :)

Good afternoon everyone. At nursery we love to see children play and learn from new experiences, especially using objects from the natural world.

Holistic play helps children connect with the world around them. In toddlers and preschool the staff are creating an environment where children can have the opportunity to discover open ended experiences.

Can we ask our families if they would like to donate any of the following objects:
Adult hats, handbags
Metal pots and pans
Wooden baskets or bowls
wooden cutlery, metal spoons, whisks
kettles, toasters, hair dryers (if you can cut the wires off before you donate
mobile phones, telephones
rugs
tea set, dinner service (tea pots pouring jugs)
bottle tops, corks, tin cans

Imaginations running wild!!
The preschool children loved using tyres, drain pipes cones and all sorts of materials to make their own interpretations.

These materials are available for all the children to use at all times. They love to explore the outdoor area, and what a place to do it in!!

From the 21st June the tennis courts and the turning circle will be closed!
Parents will be unable to park and drop off in the park.

Parents can park at the car park opposite macdonalds and walk through.

Please remember your drop off and pick up times, if you are unsure please speak to a member of staff!

We had some lovely news this morning Becky our nursery practitioner has had her baby, she's had a little girl and named her Jaycee, we wish her all the luck and love in the world!!

Due to the warm weather the tennis courts are very busy so please come to the opposite gate at the side of nursery. Please stay at the outside gate and we will come to you. Also with the warm weather this week forcast can you please bring a hat and sun cream for your child with their name in.

Debdale Nature Centre have kindly donated some sunflower seeds, the children will be taking them home this week!
So why not enter their competition and see who can grow the tallest sunflower!!!!

Debdale Nature Centre are running an Easter Egg Hunt on the 4th April 1-4pm in the park.

World Book Day is next week so we are inviting all our children to dress up! This will be happening all week!
They can dress up as their favourite book character and even bring in a book from home they would like to share with their friends.

Please dont worry if you dont have any dressing up clothes we have plenty of dressing up at nursery!

To all our parents, following the press conference last night we are open as usual today but we wil try to have a definite answer of lockdown by the end of the day.

With the weather getting colder please can we make sure all children bring a hat and gloves in to wear (please put your child's name in them).

Unfortunately our parent helper will not be starting with us ,we are still seeking to recruit a parent helper if anybody is interested please contact us.

Can all parents use the main gates of the park if they are walking to the nursery and can all drivers please make sure you are driving 5mph and have your hazard lights on.

A quick reminder if you can bring spare clothes in for your child as nursery is running low on spares. This time of year is important for spare clothes as it gets really muddy outside and so we may have to change your child's clothes a few times.

Hi everyone, a quick update the elctricity is back on and nursery is open as normal. Keep an eye out for any updates as the electricity are stilling working in the area. Thank you

Unfortunately we have had a power cut in the area so we have no electricity and heating so we are having to close the nursery, hopefully this will be back on tomorrow but we will let you know as soon as possible

Our fun Pudsey hunt in the park with toddlers this morning!
We counted our Pudsey faces and used our senses to help us find them!

Following our previous post advertising for a parent helper, we have now appointed Lauren. She will be starting as soon as possible and will es**rt you to and from the front gate. You will recognise her wearing an hi-vis jacket and carrying a torch.

As from this week we will have different start and finishing times for the children. The staff will be handing out letters about this information.
All families can now drop off and pick up at the tennis court gates, please make sure you stay 2 metres apart whilst you are waiting for staff. and you are wearing a mask.

We are trying to keep everyone safe at the difficult time, we thank you for your ongoing support and understanding.

Parent helper required:
We are looking for a parent helper to accompany parents from the front gate to the tennis court and back as the dark nights are coming in. This will be required 5 days a week 4.15pm until 5.15pm and will be required throughout the winter months. Please call Sally, Alex or Kim for more details including rate of pay. References and a police check will be required.
