A huge well done to our amazing Year 6 children, who scored above national average in their KS2 SATs in reading, maths and GPS (Grammar, Punctuation & Spelling) at both Expected Standard and Greater Depth. Our approach is that here at Oswald Road we can
have it both ways- a wide and varied curriculum, whilst also achieving strong academic results, and this year's amazing Year 6 children have shown that we can achieve just that!

Are you an experienced TA looking for the next step in your career, or have you just graduated from your teaching degree? We are currently recruiting for a Cover Supervisor to support our high standards of teaching and learning in the situation where a class teacher is not available. We would welcome candidates who have TA3 experience in a primary school - ideally across age ranges.

We would also welcome candidates ahead of them starting their ECT years. Over the years, candidates have applied for this role, and then from this developed into an ECT position. The role provides a wealth of experience, setting new teachers off to a great start to their teaching career.

Eco School Green Flag Award

We are proud to announce that we have been awarded the Eco School Green Flag Award. Eco-Schools is a seven step framework that thousands of schools around the world use to introduce, manage and complete environmental actions in their organisation and local community. We aim to place young people at the heart of these environmental actions. This approach engages, motivates and empowers children to care for our planet now and throughout their lifetimes. Thank you to Mrs Jones, our Eco Team and all students and parents who have contributed to this incredible achievement.

Please visit our website to view all the eco activities we've been involved in recently:

PTA Summer Fair

Thank you to everyone who joined us at this year's Summer Fair, we had a fantastic turn-out and raised over £6,500 to enhance the children's access to a range of books with new 'reading for pleasure' books for use across the whole school. A huge thank you to the army of volunteers who helped in so many different ways to make the afternoon such a special fun-filled one.

We have really enjoyed this year’s PTA events and hope you have too. For the PTA to continue arranging events like this we need new members for next school year 2026-2027. There are lots of ways to get involved, either as:

- a committee member
-working in a team to arrange an event
-regular or occasional volunteering at events
-sharing your ideas for events or activities

Please contact us at [email protected] if you are interested. We would also be very happy to speak to you individually and answer any questions - just drop us an email to arrange.

Wishing you all a fabulous Summer!

What a fantastic sporting year it has been for Oswald Road...

This year has been our busiest yet, with pupils representing the school in football, rugby, hockey, cricket, athletics, cross country, basketball, swimming, lacrosse, rounders and dodgeball. Across every event, our children have shown incredible determination, resilience, teamwork and sportsmanship, making everyone at Oswald Road immensely proud.

There have been so many highlights. We were crowned Manchester Champions in Tag Rugby, Girls’ Football and Cricket, while our hockey team became Greater Manchester runners-up and our basketball team brought home bronze, finishing 3rd place. Our swimmers enjoyed an outstanding year, winning the Manchester Swim Gala while our athletics team, cross country runners and lacrosse players all produced fantastic performances against some of the strongest schools in the region. We also had an outstanding cross country performance from Martha who came 2nd in the whole of Greater Manchester at cross country.

Throughout the year, our pupils have received compliments from external officials and other schools for their excellent behaviour, respect and encouragement towards others. They have represented Oswald Road with pride and maturity.

A huge thank you to all of the staff who have supported fixtures and competitions throughout the year, as well as our parents and carers who have volunteered, encouraged and cheered on our teams in all weathers. Your support makes these opportunities possible.

Finally, thank you to every pupil who has worn an Oswald Road sports kit this year. You have embraced every challenge with enthusiasm, supported one another and shown exactly what it means to be part of a team. We can’t wait to see what next year brings...

Our girls took part in the Manchester football finals on Thursday. They knew it was going to be hard as they were up against all the other regional champions. We started the first game very strongly, winning 3-0. This set the precedent for the rest of the games. In the end they were unbeaten, only drawing one game out of the five!

The girls were incredibly happy with they achieved and celebrated as a team! We are so proud of them! Thank you to all the parents who came and supported!

A great finish to a phenomenal sporting year as a school!
