💡 What if your next big idea could become a business?

Yesterday, we had a fantastic session at UKMC Salford as part of our Centre for Entrepreneurship's second masterclass – Opportunity Recognition & Creative Thinking! 🚀

We were joined by three brilliant entrepreneurs who brought their own experiences and perspectives to the room.

🔹 Neil Fagleman, Managing Director of Merco FS, shared his journey in business ownership and growth.

🔹 Josh Morris, Founder & CEO of Busy Bins, spoke about how spotting a simple everyday problem led to building his own business.

🔹 Manoj Ranaweera, Founder & CEO of Techcelerate, took students through the importance of testing ideas before turning them into businesses.

It was lovely to see students asking questions, sharing ideas and learning from people who've been through the journey themselves!

A big thank you to Neil, Josh and Manoj for spending time with our students, and to Dr Akintayo Akinrinsola for bringing it all together. 💙

💚 A little time to pause, connect and put wellbeing first.

Our Mind Matters: Connect • Recharge • Speak • Support initiative brought students and staff together at our Salford and Abarna campuses for two wonderful days dedicated to wellbeing, connection and community.

From collecting stamps on Wellbeing Passports and entering the prize raffle to picking up stickers and goodies, taking part in mindful activities and sharing positive affirmations, there was plenty to smile about! ✨

But beyond the activities, it was the conversations, laughter and little moments of connection that made these days so special. 💙

A big thank you to our Wellbeing Team and everyone who joined in, shared a moment, started a conversation or simply stopped by to say hello.

The entrepreneurial journey continues at UKMC as our Centre for Entrepreneurship brings its second masterclass, Opportunity Recognition & Creative Thinking, to our aspiring student entrepreneurs.

We're excited to welcome three accomplished entrepreneurs who will share their journeys, industry insights and practical advice on identifying opportunities and transforming innovative ideas into successful ventures.

Sometimes, you don’t need to have all the right words, you just need someone who’s ready to listen.

Our Mental Health First Aiders (MHFAiders) across our Newcastle and Sunderland campuses are friendly, trained points of contact who can listen without judgement, offer reassurance and help guide you towards the right support when you need it.

Whether you’re having a difficult day, feeling overwhelmed, or simply need someone to talk to, you don’t have to figure it out alone.
