IMechE Formula Student UK 2023
Congratulations to the Manchester Stinger Motorsports who competed at the IMechE Formula Student UK event held at Silverstone from 19th - 23rd July!
Overall, the team place 44/63 (the top University from the North West region). Additionally, Mike Fahey, one of the electrical team members who studies computer science, won the overall Craig Dawson Award as the Formula Student UK 2023 MVP (most valued person)!
This is a fantastic achievement for both students and staff who worked tirelessly to try and meet the scrutineering requirements. We look forward to seeing what you have in store for next year!

We are currently recruiting students from the School of Engineering to take part in a new Mental Health and Wellbeing Peer-Mentoring Scheme specifically for School of Engineering students!
As a Mental Health and Wellbeing Peer Mentor, you will receive training from Mind to ensure that you are prepared to become a great mentor.
In order to apply you must be entering your 2nd of 3rd year of your undergraduate in September 2023.
Deadline for applications: Midday 15th August (but note this may close early if there is a high volume of applications so apply asap).

The event should be a fun end to the exam period with judges being drawn from across the Faculty as well as flying in from Sony Japan & Europe. A range of prizes will be offered across three categories. The challenge will be shared at the start of what will be an entertaining and intense few hours where you can equally well show your flair for
- Creativity & Vision
- Innovation
- Delivering Practical Solutions
- With prizes offered by Sony -Â
Semiconductors across all categories as well as an overall winning team.
Whether you are interested in a fun day, prizes, free food or a career opportunity the event should be a memorable one to end the year!

Remember to make the most of the Social Room (3A.069) during the exam period, open 8am-8pm!Â
The social room is a relaxing and light room on the 3rd Floor of Engineering A and is a lovely space to chill out before or after and exam. Â
Free drinks (including hot drinks using our NEW URN!!) and snacks are provided so you can refuel and de-stress throughout the day! Hot water will be available from the urn from 10am-3pm, Monday-Friday.

Exam Breakfast continues until 7th June!Â
The exam period can be an anxious time so please do come for a chat with us at the exam breakfast and pick up a snack, juice or hot drink to kickstart your day!Â
You will be able to find us on weekdays between 8:30am â 10am in the main Engineering Building A foyer on the ground floor.
Remember you can always stop by the Student Support Hub for chat at any point between 9am - 5pm too!Â

FINAL DEADLINE: MONDAY 8TH MAY
Join SoE in running the Purple Wave on Sunday 21st May
University of Manchester staff, students, and alumni from can take part in the Great Manchester Run as part of The Purple Wave, choosing to run either 10km or a Half Marathon.Â
A group of staff and students from the School of Engineering will be meeting at the South Entrance to Engineering Building A and heading meet the rest of the Purple Wave community at the Pendulum Hotel before the run.Â
If you would like to run with other student and staff from the School of Engineering please register your interest via this Eventbrite!!!

Women in Engineering Network Event!
Wednesday 26th April @ 1pm-3pm
Makerspace (Ground Floor of Engineering A).
The School of Engineeringâs Equality, Diversity, Inclusion, and Accessibility (EDIA) Team are hosting an informal event for female and gender minority students and staff across the School to mingle, get to know one another, and share lived experiences where they wish.
Since exam season is just around the corner, this event will centre the wellbeing of female and gender minority students and staff during times of high pressure in the University calendar.
Students and staff will be invited to express their creativity through arts and crafts and revise in a relaxed environment, as well as share lived experiences and revision tips with one another.
You can drop in and out of the event at any time.

Coke along to our Lino Printing Event next Monday, 24th April!! Design fun prints and cards which can be used for decoration, to wish someone a happy birthday, or whatever your heart desires!
