Manchester Metropolitan University Official account of Manchester Metropolitan University, the Modern University of the Year for two years running 🐝

Manchester Metropolitan University is one of the most extensive higher education centres in Europe with 37,000 students and more than 1,000 undergraduate, postgraduate and professional courses. The University educates and trains large numbers of legal and business professionals, scientists, engineers, teachers, health workers and creative professionals. Manchester Met has invested £350 million in its estate and facilities during a ten-year plan to create a truly world-class campus in the heart of Manchester. We are a great modern university, in a great global city, here to make an impact on Manchester, our nation and beyond, with a driving ambition to discover and disseminate knowledge, and make higher education as accessible and beneficial to all those with the passion and ability to succeed. We work closely with our city, with business, the community and our academic peers – locally, nationally and internationally – to be inventive and creative, generate great opportunities, and enable our students, colleagues and everyone whose lives we touch to make an impact.

This month, the Manchester Poetry Library celebrates its fifth anniversary! 🎂

Since opening in 2021, the Manchester Poetry Library has developed an extensive collection of poetry in multiple languages and formats. As the North West's first free public poetry library, it has served as a space for communities to explore and meet likeminded people.

To mark the occasion, we're hosting events across the next twelve months including workshops, showcases, and evenings led by Professor Carol Ann Duffy (Creative Director of Manchester Writing School).

Interested? Head to the link in our comments to browse our programme of events. 📆

We're celebrating National Poetry Day (1 October) with a special reading from Matthew Hollis, Professor of Poetry and Editorial Studies 📖

'Stones', set in the Lake District and published in Oldham, reflects this year's theme of 'Wonder' through its relationship with the natural world.

At Manchester Met we're proud to champion exciting and creative poetry, which includes celebrating the fifth anniversary of our Poetry Library and hosting a programme of engaging events throughout the year. For more information, check out the link in the comments.
