WHAT CAN I OFFER YOU IN 30 MINUTES?

For speaking:
I can give you a mock exam, give you an estimated band mark, identify your weaknesses, and explain to you what we can do together in future lessons if you would like to continue studying with me.

For writing:
I can give you live feedback on 2 writing tasks. All I ask is that you use authentic questions from the Cambridge IELTS books and that you send me your writing at least 1 day before the lesson to give me time to correct it. If you don't have authentic questions, I can send you some.

AFTER THE FREE TRIAL LESSON, WHAT CAN I OFFER YOU?

For writing, I can give live feedback on anywhere between 2-4 tasks in a 30-minute lesson and 4-8 tasks in a 1-hour one. You get a copy of your corrected text along with a detailed explanation of what you are doing wrong, and resources and advice on what to work on.

HOW MUCH DO THE WRITING LESSONS COST
My writing lessons cost $18 for a 30-minute lesson and $31 for a 1-hour lesson. Packages of 5-10 lessons are cheaper.

ISN'T THAT EXPENSIVE?

If you take a look at what is offered and the quality of what is offered, it's worth that and more. Online corrections cost between $5-35 per task. The cheaper corrections are barely corrections of grammatical and lexical mistakes, and the more expensive ones do not allow for the opportunity to discuss your writing with the teacher.

What I offer is corrections of your mistakes + the ability to discuss your weaknesses with an IELTS writing expert, yours truly. This makes my lessons much more effective and cheaper than written corrections.

As my students develop and their mistakes go down, I can cover more tasks within the lesson. I've had very advanced students that have reached 8 tasks in a 1-hour lesson.

As for speaking:
I teach all of the requirements of your target band mark in all 4 criteria (Fluency and Coherence, Lexical Resources, Grammatical Range and Accuracy, and Pronunciation).

During the lesson, I teach the required language and give the students the opportunity to practice using it. I also correct mistakes and share all of the material that I use in the lesson. At the end of the lesson, I give my students advice on what to do after the lesson and if needed I give them resources to use.

BAND 7 ESSAY CHECKLIST

Do your essays fulfill the band 7 requirements? What areas do you need to work on?

Many students struggle to find the key information when dealing with graphs. Presenting the key information in the overview and giving details about these key features is the meat and potatoes of task 1 Academic. Below are some of the things you can look for.

Similarities in trends
Differences in trends
Highest numbers
Lowest numbers

After brainstorming these key features, you can choose which ones to include in your writing. Below is a suggested layout.

Introduction: rephrase of the question
Overview: without details mentioning the similarities and differences
BP1: Giving details for similarities in trends
BP2: Giving details for differences in trends

If there isn't much to write about, you could compare and contrast the main similarities and differences in 1 body paragraph, and compare and contrast the highest and lowest numbers in another one, body paragraph 2.

Take a look at the graph and write down what the key features are.
