Huge congratulations to the winners of our wild and wacky hair day. We were amazed at how much hard work you parents had put into your child's hair today there were some phenomenal creations! Unfortunately by the time we were able to announce the winners, the heat had got to most of the children! But still they were all worthy winners!

In Maths, we learned how to use a protractor accurately to measure angles. We began by exploring the different parts of a protractor and noticed that it has two scales, which help us measure angles in different directions. We discussed the importance of using our angle facts to estimate whether an angle might be acute, obtuse or a right angle before measuring carefully. To make our learning practical and fun, we used tape to create different angles on our desks and then used protractors to measure them accurately. We worked hard to line up the centre point and baseline correctly to ensure precise measurements.

Year 6 became detectives for the day at Manchester Central Library! π΅οΈπ
We started the day with an exciting Zoom call with author Sharna Jackson, who shared brilliant hints and tips on how to solve a mystery like real detectives.
Our challenge began when we discovered that the libraryβs most precious book had been stolen by an employee and it was up to us to crack the case! π
Throughout the day, we investigated fingerprints, used chromatography to identify the pen used by the culprit and even tested blood types. We carefully inspected the scene of the crime, questioned employees and solved clues using jigsaws, cipher wheels and coded messages.
After lots of teamwork, resilience and problem-solving, we finally uncovered the truthβ¦ Tom was the culprit! π¨ Library security quickly led him away and the precious book was safely returned.

The children in Nursery and Reception thoroughly enjoyed their trip to Stoller Hall. They all looked fantastic in their jungle animal hats and proudly took along the instruments they had made for the concert.
In preparation for the Animal Tea Party, the children have been busy learning songs, actions, and sign language linked to the different animals.
All of the children were extremely well behaved and performed brilliantly with their singing and actions. Well done to all of Nursery and Reception!

In Science, we were learning about materials and their properties. We explored new scientific vocabulary and worked collaboratively with our partners to match the correct definitions to each term. We then investigated a range of different materials, testing their properties carefully and recording our findings in a results table. As an extra challenge, we used hula hoops to create our own Venn diagrams and sorted recyclable objects according to their properties. This helped us to compare materials and think scientifically about how objects can belong to more than one group.
