The Great Contradictor: The NOT Gate 🔄 Ever wondered how a computer says "No"? While most logic gates look for agreement, the NOT gate is the ultimate rebel—it takes whatever you give it and does the exact opposite. This is the Inverter, the gate that turns logic on its head. How it works: • The Setup: We have a single NPN transistor connected between the supply voltage and the ground. • The Logic: Unlike the AND gate, the output is taken from above the transistor. When the input is "Low" (0), the transistor stays closed, forcing the current to flow directly to the output. • The Result: When you turn the transistor "On" (High/1), it creates a shortcut straight to the ground. The current takes the path of least resistance, leaving the output at 0. One goes in, zero comes out. Without this simple ability to flip a signal, we wouldn't have memory cells, clocks, or complex processors.
