πŸ…βš½ Celebrating sporting success at Lostock High! βš½πŸ…

We are delighted to share that Lostock High School has achieved the School Games Mark Award for the 2025/26 academic year!

The School Games Mark is a Government-led award scheme, facilitated by the Youth Sport Trust, which recognises schools for their commitment to developing participation, competition and opportunities in sport both within school and across the wider community.

This award reflects the hard work, enthusiasm and dedication shown by our students and staff throughout the year. From competitive fixtures and clubs to leadership opportunities and inclusive participation, school sport continues to play a hugely important role in life at Lostock High.

We are incredibly proud of all the students who have represented the school in competitions, supported events as leaders and officials, and embraced opportunities to get involved in sport and physical activity.

A huge thank you to everyone who has contributed to this achievement and helped make school sport such a positive and inspiring part of our school community.

Celebrating our ReachOut graduates! πŸŒŸπŸŽ“

Today we celebrated the graduation of our fantastic Year 8 and Year 9 ReachOut groups, and we could not be prouder of everything they have achieved.

The ceremony was filled with certificates, prizes and plenty of proud moments as students were recognised for their commitment, growth and participation throughout the programme.

ReachOut is a mentoring programme focused on developing important social and emotional skills, helping young people build confidence, resilience, communication, teamwork and self-belief. Over the course of the programme, students have challenged themselves, supported one another and grown enormously both personally and socially.

It has been wonderful to watch their confidence flourish, and today’s celebration was a reminder of just how much they have accomplished.

A huge well done to all of our graduates, you should be incredibly proud of yourselves!

Revision in Full Swing for Year 11! βœοΈπŸ“š

The Geography room was an absolute hive of revision on Wednesday morning, with standing room only as Year 11 students came in before school to prepare for their Paper 1 exam.

It’s been fantastic to see so many students taking advantage of the expert support, guidance and encouragement from the Humanities team as they approach this important exam period.

And the dedication continues today, with more revision support for History from as early as 7.30am before the exam begins.

A huge well done to our Year 11 students for their commitment and resilience during exam season β€” and thank you to the Humanities team for the ongoing support and encouragement.

Good luck, Year 11, we’re all rooting for you!

Year 11 explore future pathways at Skills Centre Trafford Park πŸ—οΈπŸ”§

A huge thank you to The Skills Centre for hosting a group of our Year 11 students this week.

Students had a fantastic experience touring the facilities and learning about the wide range of vocational opportunities available, including joinery, bricklaying, electrical installation, automotive maintenance and plastering.

With industry-trained tutors and realistic working environments, the visit gave students a valuable insight into careers in the trades and helped them see these pathways in action. Experiences like this are incredibly important in helping young people explore their options and understand the many exciting routes available after school.

A special thank you to Kyle, Paul, Paul, Ben, Ian and John for the warm welcome and for generously sharing your time, expertise and experience with our students. Your enthusiasm and support made the visit truly memorable.

We really appreciate your support in helping inspire the next generation.

βš–οΈπŸ—£οΈ Year 10 knife crime awareness workshop πŸ—£οΈβš–οΈ

Recently our Year 10 students took part in an important and thought-provoking workshop delivered by magistrates from the Greater Manchester Adult & Youth Courts.

The session focused on the serious issue of knife crime, helping students understand the real-life consequences, legal implications and wider impact that carrying a knife can have on individuals, families and communities.

Hearing directly from magistrates gave students a valuable insight into the justice system and encouraged honest discussion around personal responsibility, decision-making and staying safe.

We are very grateful to the magistrates for taking the time to speak with our students and deliver such a powerful and informative session.

🚭🎲 Year 8 va**ng prevention workshop

Our Year 8 students recently took part in an engaging and informative va**ng prevention workshop, designed to raise awareness about the risks of va**ng and support informed decision-making.

The session combined important health education with interactive activities and games, including a Traitors-style challenge, which made the learning both memorable and enjoyable.

Through these activities, students explored topics such as peer influence, making safe choices and understanding the impact of va**ng on health.

It was fantastic to see students fully engaged, thinking critically and contributing thoughtfully to discussions. Sessions like this play a vital role in empowering young people with the knowledge and confidence to make positive choices.

πŸͺ✨ A Sweet Finish to STEM This Term!

We’ve wrapped up the term in STEM on a delicious note, with students baking shortbread biscuits and decorating them with their own fondant creations.

It’s been a wonderfully creative (and very tasty!) term, with students also mastering fluffy pancake stacks and croissants earlier on.

Along the way, they’ve developed key skills in precision, planning, creativity and problem-solving - all while having plenty of fun.

A fantastic way to combine practical learning with a touch of sweetness - well done to everyone involved!

πŸͺ΅πŸŽ¨ Year 8 bring designs to life in Technology

Our Year 8 students have been busy developing their skills in Technology, planning and creating their own unique woodwork characters this term.

Starting with just an idea and a simple rectangle of wood, students worked through the full design process - sawing, sanding, drilling and painting - to transform their concepts into finished pieces.

It has been fantastic to see such creativity, precision and practical skill on display, with every character reflecting the individuality and imagination of its creator.

A brilliant example of hands-on learning, where students can take pride in what they’ve designed and made from start to finish.

How amazing are these?!
