🌟 Took this work horse for a trip into the assembly hall this morning... 🌟

Holden Clough Primary School what a great set of performances!

Began to run drum tuition sessions as part of the School's offer when we started there in September.

The kids this morning, all new drummers back then, delivered stellar performances, showing their learning journey.

From We Will Rock You, Another One Bites The Dust and Float On from Trinity College London Rock & Pop grades, every player showed their best abilities.

Will seek out footage and hopefully share soon, permissions allowing.

Super proud to be delivering Music at such a great school.

🎼 Improvisation leads to Composition 🎼

Year 3s this morning, improvising a short repeating melody to represemt these beautiful images of the Northern Lights. They played so discerning on their Glockenspiels, reflecting correct Pitch, Note Length, and creating relevant Rhythms.
The children were limited to only using 4 notes maximum.

💡 What Pitch of note do you think would accompany this?

💡 Should the rhythm be more short notes, or longer notes?

💥 That moment when.... 💥

The year 5s click and all of a sudden you have enabled a group of 25, 9/10 year olds to sing a 3 part harmony...

They held it for 5 seconds... but they did it - beautifully.

Best 5 seconds of the day.

🎼 PENTATONIC SCALE - Year 3/4

Awesome work and focus, picking our way through calculating the Pentatonic Scale for C-Major.

The kids translated this onto their Ukuleles, playing each note clearly.

✅️ Knowledge of scales
✅️ Calculating scales
✅️ Playing cleanly and accurately
✅️ Playing a Pentatonic Scale on a tuned instrument
✅️ Playing together as a group

Plenty of KS2 curriculum objectives met today.

⛰️ 🏔 Up and down start to the term.

Today has been an up...

Private Tuition in my schools has been great. Drummers showing great attitude, perseverance and work ethics. Some of their drumming for young learners is top drawer!

Despite battles with traffic this last week or so, Home Private Tuition guys are doing awesome too. New guitar player tonight playing some brilliant Arctic Monkeys.

Relax for another evening...
