We are studying the local economies of towns and cities across the United Kingdom and our fields of investigation include:
• The issues that new businesses face while attempting to establish a presence in the local economy.
• How models of business incubators in other sectors work, and how these models can be adapted to support new businesses in our high streets and town centres.
• What sets some

businesses apart from others, enabling them to be more resilient in the face of the Covid-19 pandemic and other disruptive socio-economic events.
