Collyhurst Nursery School We are an outstanding (OFSTED, September 2019) Local Authority maintained nursery school Staff is aware that safeguarding's is everyone's responsibility.

Our curriculum provides children with the opportunity to explore, be independent and curious learners in a safe and nurturing, inclusive environment that ensures all children have the best possible start to their education. Our qualified teachers and teaching assistant have a wealth of profession expertise and knowledge of early childhood development. Staff have an excellent understanding of impor

tance of learning though play. Our curriculum is based on the principle that progress and development occur when children show high levels of involvement. Ofsted (2019) "children with diverse needs make great strides... first class teaching and quality intervention when needed." Our intent is to provide every child with a tailored sequential set of learning experiences. there is an explicit focus on the wellbeing of children enabling our children to achieve well across the whole early years curriculum. Ofsted (2019) "Staff know exactly what children need to know before moving on to more difficult learning." Our stimulating indoor and outdoor environment promotes and stretches the ability of learners to imagine, collaborate and question and empowers the children to be in control of their learning. This enables our children to become resilient to failure, curious and independent with high levels of wellbeing and involvement. The high quality learning environment supports out children in becoming good readers. Ofsted (2019), quotes from our report;
- "Learning is active, magical and fun."

- "We saw that children achieved very well across the curriculum. They are ready for the next stage of education."

- "Children behave impeccably and there is no hint of unhappiness and we saw no evidence of any for of bullying ... children are exemplars of good practice.

-"Children skip into school each morning with smiley faces. Children are happy, confident and share a tight bond with their key person. They are polite, well mannered and give a warm welcome to visitors."

-"We saw lots of good humoured positive interactions with staff and children. Right from the start they learn the importance of sharing and taking terns, forming firm friendships and mixing well together. "

- "Children enjoying coming to school and feel very safe."

A message from The Children's Commissioner

Good afternoon,

Today I have published my annual report on Children and Young People’s Mental Health Services. As I enter my final year as Children’s Commissioner, one thing is clear: before we make decisions that affect young people, we need to listen to young people.

Children’s mental health is no exception. The number of children with a referral to mental health services has reached over a million – about 1 in 10 children – almost double the 564,000 in 2018-19.

We know there are still many more young people whose voices deserve to be heard. I would therefore be grateful if you could continue promoting my national survey, The Big Future, to pupils, parents and carers over the coming weeks, and encourage as many young people as possible to take part before it closes:

Please take a few minutes to take our survey.
