Happy Mentoring Monday! As people are putting up their Christmas trees ๐and getting ready for the holidays, students and teachers are also getting ready for midterms/finals. Not sure how it became December already but here we are. ๐คช๐๐คท๐ฝโโ๏ธ
During this time, students are looking for support in their classes because they have multiple classes they need to study and take exams for and donโt really know where to start. Every studentโs needs are different and their classes differ on whether they are needing to complete a project or study for an exam.
Remember at the beginning of the year when I talked about using a planner? ๐ This is the part where it especially comes in handy. With a lot of schools having projects and tests due within the next few weeks, establishing a study plan for projects and tests will help prevent procrastination and unnecessary โcramming.โ Find out due dates for each class and figure out how much study time you will need for each class, each day. This will depend on several factors such as how hard or easy some of the classes are for you and what your overall goal for each class is. I work with my students on this and get into the nitty gritty of what they want to get out of each class.
For example, if Algebra 2 is your hardest class, you will probably need to spend more time studying for that class. Contrary to popular belief, distributed study time each day is more effective than cramming and pulling an all-nighter. ๐๐
If you are needing support with organization, learning effective study techniques and note-taking, donโt hesitate to reach out!
I am here to BELIEVE in you!
Have a great week and good luck on your mid-terms! ๐๐ฝ๐๐ฝ
