"We’ve also learned during Covid that substantial unplanned disruptions to food systems have highly unequal outcomes causing great harm for some while others remain relatively unaffected. This means it’s imperative that immediate action is taken to improve the sustainability of our food systems if we are to avoid things like water scarcity causing dramatic shocks and further deepening the inequalities in our society."

"It’s possible that an urban farming future in Manchester could be part of a wider greening of the city, that includes changes to public transport infrastructure and a re-imagining of the high street. We could see a variety of different types of growing integrated into the cityscape such as rooftop gardens, allotments, community gardens and urban agroforestry even."
