🛖 Introducing the CANM Cabin 🛖

Our new community hub at Co-op Academy North Manchester launches next Tuesday, 29th September.

Created to support local families and reduce waste, we're looking to bring our local community together.

At the CANM Cabin, you'll find:

🍏 Community Fridge: Free surplus food for all.
🛒 School Pantry: Top up your weekly shop.
📚 Book Swap: Bring a book, take a book.
👶 Baby & Mummy: Preloved clothing and donated essentials.
🙌 Open to everyone!

📍 Location: The CANM Cabin, Co-op Academy North Manchester, 300 Victoria Ave, Blackley, Manchester M9 7SS

⏰ Opening Times (Term time only):
Tuesday: 8:30am – 10:00am
Wednesday: 3:00pm – 4:30pm

💚 To ensure there’s enough for every family, please choose no more than 17 food items and 3 non-food items per visit. 💚

On Tuesday, 15th September, young readers gathered in the library to celebrate Roald Dahl's Birthday! 📖✨

Our pupils got stuck into a world of imagination with some gloriumptious activities:

🧪 Witches Potion Parlour: Mixing revolting brews with slime-toad eyeballs and spider legs!
🍬 The Wonka Room: Designing weird and wonderful candy creations.
🌙 The Dream Chamber: Channeling the BFG to design custom dream jars.
🧠 Dahl Quiz & Book Vote: Testing trivia knowledge and voting for their favourite Roald Dahl story!

Plus, every pupil who took part got a raffle ticket for the chance to take a book home. 🎟️

There was a buzz around school last Thursday lunchtime as our annual Extracurricular Fair got underway for Years 7 and 8 🎉

Extracurricular activities are a vital part of academy life. It’s where our pupils can find their spark, meet new people, and discover talents they didn't know they had. We’re proud of our packed extracurricular calendar, and encourage every pupil to be involved in at least one extracurricular activity.

That's why it was great to see so many year 7s and 8s eager to get stuck in to academy life beyond the curriculum. 🚀🙌

🧱 Lego club proved a popular choice this year, with lots of master builders crowding the booth.
🎵 🎭 Drama and music were a hit with budding performers.
⚽ Football club proved a perennial favourite with boys and girls alike!

Thank you to the dedicated staff and pupils who generously gave up their lunch hour to run the stalls.

Flashback to another brilliant workshop from last year’s Diversity Day: relief Printing! 🎨

Relief printing is an ancient craft used across global cultures to transfer intricate patterns onto fabrics and paper by carving shapes into blocks of wood, foam, and textured materials.

Our young artists were challenged to observe the natural world for creative inspiration through biomimicry: studying organic shapes, leaf veins, and natural symmetry to design their own patterns. 🌿🖌️

Providing pupils the opportunity to celebrate global artistic traditions is what Diversity Day is all about. 🌍

What a week of assemblies!

First, a shoutout to Year 11’s Mo, who set the atmosphere with a stirring piano recital as the pupils entered the auditorium. He earned himself a well-deserved round of applause from every year group! 🎹👏

🧱 For year 8, the message was: learning is a journey, not an instant result. Every single day of school our pupils attend lays another brick in building their future!

Attendance is everything. Pupils must make sure they're here every day to continue building their knowledge. 🧱

🌈 In the Year 11 assembly, the tone was set for positivity and commitment. 🌈

They're prepared for a year of success by keeping their energy high. Over 60 students showed up for an impromptu Geography revision session on Wednesday. Talk about setting the standard! 🌍🙌
