πΆOur music department would like to thank for securing us the donation of a Cornet. πΆ
The cornet is a warmer, rounder, mellower member of the trumpet family. It's smaller size makes it perfect for younger musicians with littler hands, who can hold it more easily and avoid getting tired arms during practice. πͺπΊπΆ
To our generous donor: thank you for investing in the arts and supporting our music program. The gift has made its way into the hands of our talented students, and we can't wait to hear what the next generation of musicians can do! πΆπ₯³

Co-op Academy's music pupils gave showstopping performances at the semi-final of the Young Musician of the Year awards. They delivered captivating performances, blending stunning vocals with impressive multilingual lyrics. πΉβ¨
The talented semi-finalists covered a range of diverse styles. Amina took us to France with Voila (and sang the whole thing in French!), Nakaaya enchanted the room with You Stole the Show, and Harry gave us a heart-breaking rendition of Beautiful Things.
Congratulations to all of our performers for making it so far in the competition and Amina, who's headed to the final! π

βΌοΈImportant Update for Year 9 Parents & PupilsβΌοΈ
Next month, our Year 9 pupils will sit their formal End of Year Exams.
These assessments are a vital milestone, giving pupils a realistic experience of formal GCSE conditions and helping them build exam discipline ahead of their formal GCSE courses next year.
The exams follow formal exam conditions from entry in the exam hall to exit. Pupils have a responsibility to avoid breaching these criteria to avoid malpractice:
π Zero Tolerance Policy on Electronic Devices: Phones and smartwatches are strictly prohibited in the exam hall. They must be switched off and left in bags.
π€« Strict Silence: From entry to exit, formal exam conditions apply. No talking, turning around, or any other form of communication is permitted.
π¦ Equipment: Only water in clear, unlabelled plastic bottles is allowed.
ποΈ Attendance: Morning exams begin promptly at 9:00 AM. Please ensure pupils attend on time.
βοΈ A note on access arrangements: These June exams act as an initial trial period to help us build the official JCQ evidence trail required for future GCSE accommodations. Recommended pupils will be notified of arrangements prior to the exams.
Letβs work together to ensure our pupils are focused, prepared, and ready to succeed! π
For any queries, please reach out to the Year 9 team.

β Rewards Update β
Between the heartwarming stories, expanded stock in the Rewards Shop, and a shout out in the Manchester Evening News (MEN), the end of Half Term 5 was a stacked one for rewards!
This half term's grand prize was a pair of Beats headphones. Have a look at the gallery for photos from the rewards ceremonies and see our winners celebrating amid showers of confetti. π§ π
Thanks to a generous donation from , our pupils were thrilled to get their hands on official football sticker books and sticker packs. These proved to be a huge hit across the year groups. β½π
Year 7 pupil Adriano showed incredible generosity by saving up his achievement points and using them to buy a Barbie doll for his little sister's 5th birthday! His selfless gesture brought joy to his family and made us very proud. π₯Ήπ
An article in the MEN has applauded several Co-op Academies for using rewards systems to recognise excellent attendance. Co-op Academy North Manchester included! π°π

Our Year 7 Gardening Club had an incredible first meeting this half term. πΏβ¨
We teamed up with Co-op Academy Manchester's expert Eco-Ambassador, who shared his garden know-how and dropped off a variety of free herbs for the students to plant. π±
Our green-fingered pupils already have big plans, from reviving the school pond and building insect hotels to helping restore our Memorial Garden. There's no lack of ambition with these Year 7s.
A massive thank you to Giants Seat Garden Centre in Radcliffe. Their generous donation of strawberry plants, flowers, and seeds has given our pupils the perfect foundation to start digging in.
We are so proud of our Year 7s for the teamwork and vision on display here! We canβt wait to watch both the pupils and the garden grow. ππ»

We're so proud of Year 9's Filip for taking third place in Story's nationwide (!) 100 word story competition. π
The First Story judges had this to say:
βThis story shone through its lovely ex*****on of concept. It captured a real sense of how the car was feeling, and married strong scene-setting with lush, evocative language. This was one that really grew on us.β
Filip's prose was evocative and economical; they managed in 100 words what a lot of writers can't do with 100,000!
First Story receives entries from schools across the nation. You could say that Filip's brought Co-op academy North Manchester's English department into the national literary spotlight. ποΈπ¦
