Academy Community Councils are the local committees that help our academies provide the best opportunities for children and young people.
You don’t need to work in education or have governance experience.

We’re looking for people who care about their community, want young people to succeed and are happy to bring their own perspective to the table.

🎷 A 20-Piece Garage Rock Wall of Sound! 🎺

Today’s Virtual Summer Showcase features our powerhouse Big Band tackling one of the greatest party anthems of all time: "Louie Louie"!

Richard Berry (or more specifically the Kingsmen's) Louie Louie is the ultimate frat-party anthem. It went down in history alongside John Belushi’s legendary, chaotic performance in the film Animal House (1978). But did you know it’s also one of the most covered songs in music history?

Of course, there are the classic rock/pop versions by the Kinks and the Beach Boys, but it's also been taken on by heavier bands:

🏍️ Motörhead turned it into a speed-metal anthem.
💥 Black Flag tore it up as a hardcore punk track.
☠️ The Stooges played a messy 9 minute rendition of Louie Louie at their legendary final show in 1974.

Everyone from Jimi Hendrix and Blondie to the Flaming Groovies and Otis Redding has put their spin on it.

And now, our incredible 20-piece ensemble has added their definitive Big Band chapter to the legend! 🎵 🎶 🕶️

Every kilogram collected clears your wardrobe and helps two great causes:

🏡 For our Academy: Raising funds for our Eco-Committee’s new outdoor shed!
🎗️ For Charity: 35p per kg goes directly to Leukaemia & Myeloma Research UK.

🚚 Collection Day: Tomorrow, 14th July. Please bring all donation bags into school first thing in the morning! ☀️

PLEASE NOTE: We can only accept bags of clothing on the day of collection. We have nowhere to put them before the 14th!

✨A Prom Night to Remember✨

Our incredible Year 11s got the ultimate cheerio last Thursday with a spectacular Prom at Etihad Stadium! 🏟️

Everyone brought their A-game, looking effortless, glamorous and ready for the red carpet. Heads were turned from the moment they arrived. They enjoyed a delicious three-course meal, memories were made, photos posed for and moves made on the dance floor. It was a beautiful send off.

The staff had just as much fun as the students as they celebrated the 5 years they spent with this amazing year group! 💃🕺

To our Year 11s: you looked phenomenal, you danced the night away, and you have made us incredibly proud. We wish you all the best as you enter the next chapter in your lives. Thank you for the memories.!🎓❤️

🎧 Smooth, soulful magic. 🎧

This instalment of the virtual showcase brings you the vocal talents of Indie. She sang Olivia Dean's "The Hardest Part" in a magical, bittersweet rendition that's sure to tear the hearts out of audiences (in the best way💖).

Olivia Dean wrote this gorgeous tune right after a major breakup, but she didn't want it to be a sad song. Instead, she wrote an uplifting, mature anthem about growing up, moving on, and accepting change. 🎤🎶

Tackling a neo-soul track of this calibre solo takes serious emotional maturity and talent to match! So it's a good job Indie delivers on all fronts! She's worked so hard to capture that cool, soulful groove. 🎙️🫶

Prepare for mind-blowing vocal talent.🤯

✨It's time for another Virtual Summer Showcase.✨

Today, we're sharing the incredibly talented Kadie, performing a powerful rendition of "I Say No" with live piano accompaniment. 🎤🎹

🎭The song comes from Heathers the Musical, but did you know that "I Say No" wasn't actually in the original American version of the show?

It was written later for the London West End production at the suggestion of Andrew Lloyd Webber himself! He wanted to give the leading lady a massive, show-stopping moment in the story where she could stand her ground. ♀️💪
