First full year is drawing to a close. Couldn’t be happier with the progress of ATB so far. Every school we’re currently working in has requested additional days for the upcoming academic year. The more time spent in schools, the more impact we can have. Already buzzing to get started again in September. 🥊❤️

There seems to be a lot of people of the opinion that 'children should only be praised when they're good at something' or 'everyone gets a medal these days, what's the point?'.

Whereas I understand the argument for striving for excellence, for a lot of children I work with, direct comparison between peers can be a huge demotivating factor and kill their confidence before they've even had chance to get good at something.

Personally, I believe that praise, encouragement and positivity around the learning and growth process is a vital element of improving and becoming a better version of yourself. Compare yourself only to what you could do yesterday.

I'm buzzing with my participation medal anyway. 🏅

We see the positive impact that our non-contact boxing intervention sessions have on the mental health of the children we work with on a day-to-day basis.

It’s of no surprise to us that these types of sessions have worked across the world in a variety of settings with different individuals and yielded so many similar results.

This report (link below) shows the findings of 16 studies done on non-contact boxing intervention for disadvantaged people of all ages.

The results were UNIANIMOUSLY positive and this instils even more confidence and belief in the work we do.🥊♥️

We had a fantastic day at St Peter's Primary School last Monday for Children's Mental Health Week. Boxing can be used as a tool for anyone to help relieve stress and let out those negative emotions. Thanks to the open-minded staff at St Peter's, we were able to do whole class sessions with Years 1-6 and give everyone a taste of the benefits of boxing training. The smiles say it all! ❤️🥊

If your school would like some information about our availability for one-off days from now until the end of the Summer term then please don't hesitate to contact!

Sometimes, technique goes out of the window. That’s alright because I’m not here to find the next Floyd Mayweather. My main priority every session is to give the child what they need in that moment. Usually that’s having a smash on the pads, focussing their energy on learning something new or just enjoying being out of the classroom away from distractions. It can also just be a chat to get something off their chest. Either way I love the energy from this lad every week. 🥊💥

We encourage curiosity, experiential learning and lots of questions - and this young lad is full of them!
So when he asked if he could hold the pads, I was more than happy to oblige. Safe to say, he wasn’t disappointed. ♥️🥊

Can honestly say I’ve never been more excited for a school year to start. Working on the last few ideas for our student intervention and staff wellbeing classes tomorrow and motivation to grow and improve is at an all time high. Thank you to everyone who has spread the word, offered advice or given their time/ equipment/ encouragement along the way so far. Big year coming up. Let’s go. 👊🏽

The extremely generous people at FitBox Buckshaw Village in Chorley reached out to us this week with an offer of donating some boxing gear to us:
- 12 x pairs of boxing gloves
- 12 x pairs of boxing mitts
- 1 x pair of Muay Thai pads
- 1 x large strike shield
- 1 x body belt (this one's going to be fun!)
Also, the promise of 4 chained boxing bags that we will pick up later in the week!
We're blown away by the generosity and even more excited to get going again in September. 🥊

It has been my pleasure to coach these boys over the Summer term. Amazing progress has been made and a love of boxing has been instilled in them. Impact on their ability to self-regulate has been acknowledged and appreciated by various members of staff. Best of luck on your next step in high school lads! 🥊

Another pupil’s absence meant that this young man got an hour’s worth of 1-1 boxing intervention. We made the most of it by practising new techniques, using a variety of equipment and he even showed off his skipping with his new ropes. The first of 9 sessions that day, what a way to get the ball rolling.

Always looking for new ways to challenge and excite our students! 💪
Our experience as teachers has us constantly on our toes, finding new and improved ways of getting our message across.
Maybe it's time to get a bigger bag. 🤨

As teachers ourselves, we understand the pressures and responsibility that comes with a school environment. Our Staff Wellbeing sessions are a fun, light-hearted way to shake off the stress at the end of a working day.
