✨ Our Sensory Room ✨

The sensory room is used throughout the day for individual children, small groups and supported sessions. It provides a space where children can feel safe, relaxed and confident while exploring their senses at their own pace.πŸ’›

The sensory room is a calm, welcoming space designed to support children’s development through their senses. It can be used for relaxation, regulation, exploration and focused one-to-one or small group time. Whether children need a quiet moment, sensory stimulation, or a space to explore cause and effect, the sensory room supports every child in a positive and inclusive way.🫧

The sensory room is used for:
- Supporting emotional regulation and calm
- Encouraging communication and interaction
- Developing sensory awareness through play
- Providing a safe, soothing space for children to explore
- Supporting focus, attention and engagement

Resources in our sensory room include:
- Colour-changing lights and bubble tubes
- Fibre optic lights
- Sound resources
- Textured cushions, mats and fabrics/toys
- Sensory balls and tactile resources
- Soft play and movement resources
- Books
- Cognition resources
- Emotions
- And much more

These resources help children explore sight, touch, sound and movement, supporting confidence, curiosity and wellbeing in a fun and meaningful way. Our staff practice intensive interaction during time in our sensory room and throughout the day. 🌈✨

Sensory play is a vital part of early development. By engaging the senses, children build important skills such as concentration, problem-solving, confidence and curiosity. Sensory experiences also support brain development and help children make sense of the world around them in a meaningful and enjoyable way.🫢🏻

We love seeing how children relax, explore and grow in our sensory room β€” it truly is a special part of our nursery 🌟🌻
