Here’s a slightly belated look back at the fantastic Reading Trail from World Book Day earlier this month. We hope those of you who attended had a wonderful time and enjoyed seeing how we use the whole school environment to support students with reading—not only in English, but across all subjects. We look forward to welcoming you again for the Trails taking place throughout the summer term.

We are very excited about our annual Reading Trail tomorrow to celebrate World Book Day. We hope to see plenty of parents and carers out and about around the school. Timings for class groups have been communicated over Class Dojo! See you all tomorrow.

We've been busy over the Christmas break. One project has included a change of business in Imagination Village. Some of you may remember "Pit Stop Garage". This has now been moved and replaced with "Little House in the Village". O role‑play house gives students a fun, hands‑on space to use their imagination and learn through play. By acting out real‑life situations, students build confidence, develop language skills, learn to work together, and practise problem‑solving in a natural, engaging way. It’s a brilliant way to support creativity, communication, and social development while they play!

What an incredible festive celebration we had at The Grange! Parents and carers joined their children for a fantastic Christmas trail around school, starting with heartwarming performances that set the tone for the day.
The market stalls were bursting with homemade treasures – from wrapping paper, cards, and tags to beautiful decorations, fudge, brownies, and wax melts. Our Zen Dens were a cozy haven with face painting, hot chocolate, and toasted marshmallows – pure festive bliss! And of course, the highlight for many was visiting Father Christmas in his grotto. The enormous snow globe made the perfect backdrop for those magical family photos, and Louby Lou’s entertainment had everyone singing and dancing with joy! Thank you to everyone who came and made this event so special. We also want to say a huge thank you to all the staff at Grange and the PTA for making the day so special. Wishing you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Hector Hog has been on hand to interview our students for lunch time jobs in Brewhog. Each shift has one manager, a supervisor and 1 or 2 assistants. This work experience offer has been running for 4 years and this year we had 34 applications for jobs, including 7 application for promotions. Here are some highlights from the afternoon of interviews.

We dropped in on a History learning walk to see what classes were up to. It was lovely to see groups engaging in chronology (this terms Remember More skill) through the Know More topics of the Mayan Civilization, World War 1 and Festivals and Celebrations. Learning walks are a key area for our subject leads. They drop in on timetabled lessons to ensure class groups are following the curriculum, that the correct modules are being delivered and that the resourcing and level of challenge and support is appropriate. It is a brilliant way for our subject leads to ensure the high standard of teaching is maintained as well as seeing all the amazing and innovative ways our staff deliver lessons.

The Grange House Cup Sorting Ceremony has officially taken place, and all classes have now been assigned to their houses for the year ahead. The event was filled with excitement and magical moments. Grandor, the mystical guardian of the Grange House Cup, made his grand debut and brought along enchanted beans for the students. Each class placed the beans into their house cauldron, triggering a dazzling burst of colour that revealed their class’s house for the year. You can now find your child’s class and house assignment on the posted lists. The first house challenges have been sent to classes and we look forward to seeing what gets submitted to Grandor and the House Cup Council.

CBBC Newsround visited several schools last week, including Grange, to find out what students love about Autumn. Did any of you see it live? Here’s the section from the episode. A brilliant and professional job from all students involved.

Many of you will have noticed the building work that is currently happening at Grange. The construction will link up the main building to the Sports Hall and incorporate a very impressive Brewhog cafe with a professional kitchen and service area. The Sports Hall will be split into two sections. One half will be converted into 2 floors of classrooms, a gym, dance studio and a new life skills flat. The other half will then be split into two sections to deliver PE lessons. The changes will be another leap forward with our offer and we can't wait for everyone to see it finished.
