Spent two sunny days on Dartmoor and another 16-hour Outdoor First Aid course completed!

A great group this week, with people involved in Duke of Edinburgh, Ten Tors, ecology, sea kayaking, Forest School and guiding on the South West Coast Path.

Over the two days we covered loads of practical outdoor first aid skills, including:

🩹 Splinting and managing fractures
🥶 Hypothermia and hyperthermia
🐝 Bites, bugs and stings
🚑 Casualty assessment and emergency care
🌲 Managing incidents in remote outdoor environments

A fully accredited course, lots of hands-on practice and all round amazing feedback from the group.

Outdoor First Aid courses across Dartmoor and the Lakes this month, with groups getting hands on practice and time to get things right.

We’ve received consistent 5 star feedback, with amazing comments about our instructors’ ability to facilitate an engaging and insightful course. “It’s the best first aid course I’ve ever been on!”

Great to work with mountain leaders, ski and snowboard instructors, forestry teams, ecologists, conservationists, outdoor instructors and Ten Tors leaders. Different roles, same challenge. Help is a long way off, so what you do first really counts.

Plymouth, Britain’s Ocean City, was the destination for today’s Emergency First Aid at Work with Paediatrics course.

It was a pleasure to train an amazing staff team, equipping them with the skills and confidence to respond to emergencies involving both adults and children.

It was also great to see the site had invested in its own defibrillator. When trained people have quick access to an AED, it can make a real difference in a cardiac emergency.

Thank you to everyone who took part for such a positive and engaging day. We look forward to being back in Plymouth again soon.

Another fantastic two days delivering Outdoor First Aid training this time for Devon County Council staff at the beautiful Stover Country Park.

Working in such a stunning setting provided the perfect opportunity to practise realistic first aid scenarios relevant to those who spend their time working outdoors. From managing injuries in remote locations to dealing with medical emergencies away from immediate assistance, the team developed valuable skills and confidence to help keep themselves and others safe.

A huge thank you to everyone who took part and to Devon County Council for investing in the safety and wellbeing of their staff.

If your team works outdoors, in parks, countryside locations, forestry, highways, or remote environments, specialist outdoor first aid training can make all the difference.

Recovery position or Safe Airway Position practice out on Dartmoor this week as part of the ITC two-day Outdoor First Aid course with First Aid 4 Life.

A brilliant mix of mountain leaders, DofE expedition staff, RYA instructors, teachers, scout leaders, and cave leaders taking part in realistic outdoor scenarios and practical casualty care.

Solid day delivering an Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) course in the South Hams with LTM Builders.

Lewis stepped up as the demo casualty for the bandaging scenarios and did a brilliant job! Always good to make the training practical, hands-on, and relevant to the workplace.

We were back out on Dartmoor this week delivering another outdoor first aid course.

We headed up onto the moor at Heatree Down, near Hound Tor, for our practical scenarios. It always adds a different level of realism. It was a strong group – engaged, capable, and up for getting stuck in.

We had a real mix of experience on the course:

* Canoe club members
* Mountain leaders
* 10 Tors leaders and British Cycling mountain bike leaders

That blend of backgrounds made for some really valuable discussions and shared learning. Exactly what you want on an outdoor course.
